My very hot take on the Splash Mountain rebrand is that... it's better. :blobfoxpeek: Honestly the theming is a bit confusing and doesn't fit a log flume ride at all, but neither did Song of the South really. The Brer Rabbit stuff was always pretty thin on the ground, but the Tiana stuff is at least super cute (Beau is best opossum :blobfoxheartcute: ) and the theme of building a band is fun. I dunno. I like it. :blobfoxfloofhappy: Plus Song of the South is racist, boring, and dumb. Princess and the Frog has Friends on the Other Side and it SLAPS.

Disney Parks released a full ride-through POV of Tiana's Bayou Adventure the other day.
I think I agree with the commenter who said, "Disney once created a Haunted Mansion with 999 souls. Now they've created a mountain without one."
They passed on having Facilier in the attraction. Shadowman would have spiced up the place something fierce.
The timing on the scene animations is off. Badly. The spot where Tiana just stares at you blankly as your log approaches is top-tier awkward as heck.
The amount of dead space and downtime between scenes is excessive. Yes, I know they were retrofitting an attraction that had timing issues but it just seems worse now somehow. And that's even with the video being edited to remove dead spots!
I am so disappointed. I was excited to see what Tiana was cooking up for us. Turns out that she forgot to turn the stove on.

Just watched my pal Justin Scarred's account of the final day of #SplashMountain at #DisneyWorld. It's hardly scientific, but at some point, I started watching, and the only black faces I spotted were cast members. (There were a couple brown ones.) It was a big party and many will miss the ride, but on some creepy, unintentional level, it sometimes felt a little like the happiest clan meeting on Earth. I know many still don't understand why it was time for it to go.

I mean, I'm kind of sorry to see #SplashMountain go, too, for a variety of reasons, but it's certainly #Disney 's right to do so, for whatever the hell reason they want. And I have no doubt the "Princess and the Frog" reskinning of the ride will be just fine when it opens.

I liked #SplashMountain as an attraction. It was fun. I didn't go on it very often because I don't like walking around in soaking wet clothes afterwards.
I'll be looking forward to the Tiana version when that opens. -

The online angst has been going for a while for a while, but closing Splash Mountain in Florida for remodel amped up the ranting against the retheme from Song of the South to Tiana. Reminding me of the idea that when people use woke as an insult, just replace it with the word black to see what they’re really angry about. I saw a lot of folks crying that a woke company is forcing a woke ride based on a woke movie onto them.
