A fun conversation I had with a friend who does private guiding on #Naoshima that I had this afternoon.
Me: Last year, I was contacted by a travel agency for whom I did consultancy in the past. They wanted to hire me for a "special client" but it fell through because they wanted a certified guide. The name of the client was in one of the emails, I got curious, I googled them. It turns out that they're one of the richest families in Florida and one of Trump's biggest donors! (1/2? ⤵️ )

And then the buses (plural) full of Chinese tourists arrived. Quiet relaxing days on Naoshima definitely are a thing of the past. Probably never to return. 😢

I went to Shodoshima today. It's the same terminal as the one for #Naoshima. I was there 75' before the ferry for Naoshima and the line was... I don't know how to describe except "longer than I thought was possible." This year's #SetouchiTriennale is beyond insane, but only #Teshima and Naoshima really. The other islands are just a little bit more crowded than usual. It means that ⤵️
