  1. In 2023, we're #TwitterFree!
If you've read a great unproduced spec script from another writer and want to let people on Mastodon about it, this is what #SpecScriptShoutOut is aimed at.

The hashtag can be used any time, and the 2nd Thursday of every month is a shout out celebration day when it ramps up, and we boost the tweets that have used the hashtag.

We ask that people tag the writer in the post with the hashtag & include their script's title/ format/ genre & what they love about it.

  2. We're working on the annual recap for #SpecScriptShoutOut. So many great scripts have been covered in 2022, and we look forward to celebrating them all one more time. And starting this year, it will be taking place right here on Mastodon instead of over on Twitter.
If you're still active on Twitter, please retweet our pinned tweet over there & encourage people to get over to Mastodon so we can tag them directly in the 2022 recap. (Below is a screenshot of our Twitter pinned tweet.) ❤️🙏 #Onward

  3. A #SpecScriptShoutOut from Tom Schrack for #ENEMY, a feature script by Clint Williams (@ClintW3) which made the Nicholl Top 50 in 2022. (Originally posted on Twitter.)

  4. Like we usually do on #SpecScriptShoutOut day, we start by boosting all of the shout outs we've seen since the last celebration day. And since this is the first time we're doing this on Mastodon, and a lot of shout outs are still on Twitter, we'll share the screenshots of the tweets, and if we know the writer is on Mastodon, we'll tag them on here. Like this shout out for @Daynadirects for her script #TheSleepover.

  5. #SpecScriptShoutOut for CHRISTMAS STOCKINETTE by @PaulaHendrickson . It's a feature length, feel-good Chrismas friends-to-lovers story filled with family, knitting, baking, animals, a winter festival, concerns about small businesses under threat, competitions, misunderstandings, warm humor, lovely gems of moments between the characters. It hits genre expectations and exceeds them. The writing is a delight. I've read dozens of Christmas scripts in the past two years, and this remains a favorite.

  6. Tomorrow is #SpecScriptShoutOut day, and it is our first one on Mastodon. We're going to do our best to bring over the shout outs from Twitter, so you won't have to jump back there to see them.
And if this is your first time, #SpecScriptShoutOut is all about letting people know about a great unproduced spec script you've read from another writer.
We ask that people tag the writer in the post with the hashtag & include their script's title/ format/ genre & what they love about it. Thanks! #Onward

  7. The data for November's #SpecScriptShoutOut are now posted on our website. Check out who was reading what this past month.
We're hoping to figure out a way to do the same kind of thing with the Mastodon shout outs, too.

  9. We tweeted to let everybody know that starting next with next Thursday's #SpecScriptShoutOut celebration, Mastodon will become our primary platform. We're going to take a huge hit on participation, sure, and it doesn't change the fact that this is the right call. #Onward ❤️ 🙏

  10. @SpecScriptShout unfortunately, I’ve put my focus in the #indieauthor community over the past year because I was writing a new novel. But prior to that, I’ve participated in the #SpecScriptShoutOut community. I’ve found fantastic people to follow, read some great scripts at the time and I highly recommend following. Hope to see more of you all. The book is nearly done and I’ve got a few new script ideas eating at my brain!

Seriously, if you haven’t followed them yet, do it now.

  14. We've been running #SpecScriptShoutOut for 5+ years on Twitter, and now we're here on Mastodon. If you're new to it, you might be wondering what this is all about.

If you've read a great unproduced spec script and want to let the world know what a solid job the writer did, then #SpecScriptShoutOut is for you. These shout outs are aimed at getting writers to spread positive word of mouth about someone else’s scripts that they’d feel comfortable recommending themselves. 1/2
