My slightly overengineered hydroponics farm is nearing completion.

The middle part rotates, so there's four sets of farm plots, with two columns on four sides of the octahedron. The idea was to have the whole thing slowly rotate while in the growth phase, yet keep the whole thing vacuumproof.

For harvest, the inner cylinder can be stopped and aligned with the entrance. The collector arms on each side can then extend and sweep through the crops to vacuum the spoils.

I continue to wonder how crappy the AI blocks are in #SpaceEngineers. I thought I had given my cargo drone a simple task. Follow my rover at minimum 200 meters, never straying past 500m. And to keep the drone as level as possible.

Instead, the drone just chooses to turn off all thrust, leading to a crash. Then on the ground, it violates it's designated flight angles and somehow manages to flip itself over.

And when I flip it back.. it does it again.

Oh, what a thrill..

My Pertam Orbital station is now feature-complete and the rocket is loaded with parts for an initial settlement. It's time to blast off and make planetfall.

These scavenger drones are becoming a nuisance. I think I need about two dozen more laser turrets to maintain coverage while my cruiser (responsible for the cluster of beams coming from the left) is away.

I've started establishing a station above Pertam, and I have a new annoyance: Salvager drones. They approach darkly without any antenna on, so manual defense occurs at grinder range. So I need to set up some point defense and hope they don't cause too much damage with ramming.

Most of the default weapons in #SpaceEngineers are kinetic; They fire a piece of metal at something, and that something will absorb that kinetic energy. Some as damage, but the rest of the force applies a motion vector.

This can be a problem in space, because there is a speed limit of around 100 m/s, and wrecks hit by assault or artillery turret volleys can be hard to catch. So if you want to salvage anything afterwards, keep a tugboat with you.

Success. While my cruiser's firepower mostly remained unused, I managed to salvage a small-grid jump drive and a large-grid drill from a Factorum base overrun with plants that survive in space.

Clearing the base was (intentionally) annoying, because the defenses were turrets hidden by darkness. Strangely enough, the custom railgun turret was the _least_ lethal of these. A regular internal defense turret kills a player in less than a second, so the firepower is mostly wasted.

First catch with my new cruiser. It was severely outgunned, so I was able to retrieve it with relatively minor damage. I still need a bit more gold to finish the jump drives, but after that it's time to challenge the Factorum.

One of my projects is nearing competition. I guess this is still cruiser-sized because the total block count is lower than my first large ship, but this one packs quite a lot of front-loaded firepower.

In theory, it should be able to snipe at Factorum ships. The front should be sturdy enough to keep working even with a few railgun-induced holes.

I have a strange problem with the ship I’m designing in Creative mode. The vertexes of its blocks are slowly drifting, as if it’s taking damage. That was my first guess, but the issue is also affecting internal parts that ought to be completely safe from any collisions. And when I go inspect the twisted blocks, their hitpoints are still at 100%.

I've been planning a ship to take on Factorum ships, and I think I'm getting close The enemy has some drones and railguns on even the escort ships, so surviving unscatched doesn't seem viable. So I'm making a ship of the line. It can take a beating and keep it's nose pointed at the enemy.

I did add some modded weapons to it, specifically lasers. It could stay out of railgun range, but where's the fun in that? Vanilla version w/railguns could probably cut ships in half. #SpaceEngineers

Is there a game that you really wanted to play, and were hyped about it, but after playing it, you could not simply "click" with it? The new content patch for Space Engineers got me to finally figure out how to get an SE server running on my NAS.

Built up a mobile base with all the critical systems. It’s no frigate, it only has some rudimentary defense for shooting down meteors, but I managed to out every mineral so I can build most anything.

Just got a docking bay setup to build a fighter that I can use to start going after NPC ships. I’m parked 3km outside of one of the new Factorum encounters. :blobhaj:
