📵 New laws proposed by the Australian Government would force social media platforms to offer an opt-out for algorithmic feeds, as part of draft legislation released for "targeted consultation" today. The laws aim to "put the onus on digital service providers to provide a safe online environment, setting minimum standards for the features and tools they use." Digital services will also be required to protect under-18s from harmful content, including content related to eating disorders, misogyny, pornography, crime, dangerous stunts, abuse and bullying.
