This evening I felt very much like I'd like to see friends but the idea of having to spend the energy of being in the "presence" of another person was something between exhausting and panic inducing. I've been pushing that social battery hard lately.
It's moments like these when you feel autism as a disability. Like I want to run as fast and long as the others but it's just not happening with one leg.

@RickiTarr We don’t socialize during the week - and the occasional weekend where there are multiple “must attend” events can be enjoyable. BUT afterwards, I need alone time to recharge. Someone else in this thread mentioned their #SocialBattery and mine gets drained in some situations.

Music is an exception. I’m at a big music festival this weekend, and the kaleidoscope of cultures and genres keep me recharged until about 4 or 5pm, when we start thinking about an escape plan for dinner.
