  1. I quite like the angle of this orange clubbed sea slug Lamacia Clavigera. It brings out the gills a bit more than normal and highlights how nudibranchs get their name (naked gills). Clavi is the latin for club and Gerere for carrying or wearing. It sounds quite an aggro name for something so pretty! #nudibranch #newquay #Snorkel #sealife

  2. This aggregation is a mass gathering of spider crabs,These occur primarily when the crabs prepare to moult. During this process, their new shell remains soft and vulnerable for several days, leaving them exposed to predators. By gathering together they gain protection through safety in numbers, with newly moulted crabs often sheltering within the centre of the aggregation while their shells harden. #snorkel #sealife #newquay #underwater #vid

  3. Yesterday's dive in #newquay The prawn has a compound eye with visual units (ommatidia) connecting to the optic nerve. Overlying the ommatidia is the cuticle with is modified to act as a cornea and is thickened to form numerous square facets. These eyes have neither distant nor sharp vision but they do detect movement and has a 360 degree coverage. For all that complexity, all I ever see are a couple of tiny disco balls. #prawn #freedive #snorkel #newquay #cornwall #oceanlife
