just released
slurp1.1.1, which fixes a boneheaded bug that broke imports entirely. thanks to @lucy for the diagnosis and patch.binaries here: https://codeberg.org/vyr/slurp/releases/tag/v1.1.1
i've added a test that covers the prereqs for
archive importand some helpers to make writing future GTS-testrig-based tests easier. -

Finally I got SLURP to work. I nice tool where you can import your old Mastodon posts to GoToSocial, and backdate them to there original post date. However, there is a lot limitations so only around 1/3 posts were imported.
Mastodon should develop something like that too, so it is possible to keep your old posts when you move your profile. BlueSky and GoToSocial can, so why not Mastodon?

just released the Fedi post import and export tool
slurpv1.1.0, which fixes some bugs and annoyances, including one reported by @elilla which was preventing it from working with Mastodon. also thanks to @ladytel for the initial goreleaser config.this is my first
slurprelease to include amd64 and arm64 binaries for macOS and Linux so you don't have to build it yourself: https://codeberg.org/vyr/slurp/releases/tag/v1.1.0macOS users may need to strip the quarantine flag from the binary with
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine path/to/downloaded/slurp. -

#FediAdmin

I just switched from #mastodon to #gotosocial
Instead of being on the massive mastodon.social, I am now hosting my own social media instance on a VPS in Quebec, Candada. #selfhosted
I transfered followers and followings, but I think I lost a few during the process.
A few days ago, I used the third party tool #slurp to move my pixelfed posts.
But this time with Mastodon, Slurp was giving EOF errors and I abandonned the idea transfering my posts. They wouldn't get comments, likes, etc anyway.
EDIT: I'll probably delete my mastodon.social account soon. I'll give it a few days to make sure everything works properly, -

i'm moving my stuff off GitHub because i'm sick of Microsoft's shit. today's task is
slurp.the official project home page has been https://catgirl.codes/slurp for a bit, but now that's also the package URL as far as Go is concerned. this will be a breaking change for anyone who depended on
slurpinternals, which i hope is nobody. there's some sort of package renaming directive you can use ingo.modif you did.the public Git repo and issue tracker are now on Codeberg: https://codeberg.org/vyr/slurp
if you can, please donate to Codeberg. i just did (again). they're a great option for open source devs like me who aren't SREs and don't want the overhead of self-hosting all that stuff, and running a service like that isn't free.

my Fediverse post migration tool
slurpcan now import from Bluesky!i'm looking for beta testers who would like to give it a try, ideally on a throwaway Fedi server like a GTS testrig.
caveats:
- currently doesn't check Bluesky's advisory "Discourage apps from showing my account to logged-out users" profile flag: imported Bluesky posts will have public visibility on Fedi
- doesn't attempt to translate Bluesky thread gates to GTS interaction policies, because i need to catch up on both first
- video alt text is preserved but captions are not, because Bluesky's per-language VTT sidecar caption files would need to be converted and inlined for Fedi servers expecting one file per video
- doesn't handle quote posts, because GTS doesn't have quote posts

Right, the @chirp #GoToSocial account has been migrated here. Thanks to the #slurp software, most posts have also been migrated (except non-public ones and replies). Manual pinning was also required but that's ok.
You shall get future news about the #noGooMe #SearXNG instance running on #OpenBSD from here as of now. Spoiler alert: there will be some really soon ;)

Migration Status Update 📈
Import + Live Content-Discovery + Thread-Vervollständigung = alles parallel ohne Performance-Impact. Moderne Software-Architektur macht's möglich.
GoToSocial ist definitiv production-ready. Die Migration war die richtige Entscheidung! ✅
