A large black bear, with a diet of human garbage, coming over my fence and taking my lambs. CDFW has issued a depredation permit.
A deep part of me wants vengeance on the bear, but I also know that if the bear is trapped here, it will be killed.
Today's 100° outdoor project involves installing a half mile of hotwire on top of my fence as a bear deterrent. That being said, working where there is a 400lb predator, is a good place to have a defensive plan.

Crowbags! for storing charms, wards, and trinkets for your inner crow. perfect for that cool rock, pirate glass, or the "oh shiny!" found on the side of the road. Also good for holding more Crowbags. :)

I'm wearing a heart monitor for a week, and it is a data privacy nightmare.
The device has a cellular modem, and all data is collected by a for-profit corporation.
On the bright-ish side, the lack of cell service in my area means the device can't be used to triangulate my location when I am at home.

I tweaked my back this morning and was advised heat then ice, in 10 minute intervals. 10 minutes in a 63°F tub is my ice replacement.

2 days ago I was sweating in the sun, trying to get some tubs functional for soaking. Today I'm sipping by the wood stove during a storm, and hacking some code :)

A nice big full page print out. So many steps could be removed from the process if I could only get Lilypond to rotate the rendered PDF.

The pentabutton smart-cabin remote control is software and hardware complete. Configuration of button press commands is handled by the Script Scheduler server API.
Lights On, Lights Off, is working, and now I need to figure out what commands to config for the 8 other button press options.

All of the soldering for the remote control is finished. Now it is time to connect everything write some software before the final assembly.

2 days ago while clearing a trail for the sheep, I found and potted an Oracle Oak sapling that I didn't what to get eaten.
this morning while inspecting the removal area with the sheep, I found a California Pipevine that I didn't want to be a snack.
today is supposed to be all about collecting firewood and kindling before the storm arrives. part of that process is going to be making a trellis of manzanita to put in a pot with this pipevine.

Yesterday afternoon, temps were around 60° F, which is the minimum recommended temp for the expanding spray foam I purchased in order to install my passive-ish solar heater.
Now I'm waiting for some sunshine to hit the little solar panel and activate the 12v fan in the heater.
In other news, the 1.6A 12V computer fan in the heater is the perfect size at 4", but the power requirements are too high for my liking, and I need to find something in the 10-15 watt range.
