Got some new dosing cups: beautiful porcelain shaped like a dolphin. A bit long, but very easy to pour in, very easy to pour out of (with two options, including a more narrow end); and they comfortably hold up to 25g of coffee.

I think I still like the half avocado dosing cups more (seen in some of these photos) but these are SUPER UNIQUE.

Got my new bean cellar in today, a much more premium version of the previous six-station one I used. Features of this one:

- metal, one way valve metal caps with silicone ring
- much wider aperture to pour the beans in
- 22g max capacity per tube
- base is like, REALLY nice - walnut, finished well, grippy silicone feet
- comes with a perfect little collapsible funnel
- 12 tubes in total.

You know how the nerds of coffee love using those white porcelain matcha tea bowls for doing their single dose coffee measurements and pours? I've never liked those bowls, which kind of look like mini bedpans (see 2nd photo). So I sourced these awesome Japanese style ceramic bowls with a special cast iron rough glaze. They are fantastic. I wish I had bought more than 2.

I'm starting to think something like this is a necessary addition to any single dose grinder that gets used for espresso. What do you think?

What's interesting and rarely mentioned about coffee test tubes is, it actually takes a lot of time to accurately fill them, the holes are so small (I do have a funnel). But undeniably, they speed up the shot to shot to shot process.

Arrived today - the surprising (in a very good way), Turin Grinder SK40 model. It's hard to believe this all metal, 40mm conical burr, single dose, bellows equipped, torque-ey, quiet grinder is around $200. It's smaller than I thought too - pictured next to the diminutive Lagom Mini for comparison.

We're doing a feature on $200 grinders this fall on CoffeeGeek. Both the SD40 and SK40 from Turin are in that matchup.
