泰國去年通過婚姻平權法案，該法案今日（23日）生效，同性婚姻在當地合法，是台灣和尼泊爾後，亞洲第三個同性婚姻合法化的國家。曼谷政府聯同同性平權組織，在曼谷Siam Paragon 商場舉行大型註冊，有數百對情侶在現場註冊。有同性平權組織估計，今日泰國會有過千對同性伴侶註冊結婚。
根據《BBC》報道，雖然外界一直認為泰國社會對 LGBT 和變性等有較開放包容的態度，泰國主流佛教信仰亦和同婚沒有抵觸，但婚姻平權之路亦經過 20 年爭取，隨著《我的學長男友》、《為愛所困》等 BL 劇成為泰國重要文化輸出並風靡亞洲，推動公眾更接納及平等看待同性婚姻；另一方面泰國近年政治發展，反映社會對變革渴求熾烈，甚至連王室的地位亦受挑戰，2019 年大選，堅定支持婚姻平權的未來前進黨崛起，雖然被保守勢力以法律手段取締，但他們和 LGBTQ 族群連動甚深；到 2023 年大選繼承未來前進黨政治遺產的前進黨一舉成為國會第一大黨，雖最終未能執政，但政治現...
