I need to talk myself off the ledge on the subject of the new #Pixel11 phones this week because the trade-in and pre-order offers are putting the price within reach and just about the same as the Pixel 10 Pro I was pricing just the week before. But I don't need it.

My #Pixel7Pro still gets updates for another year, the battery still lasts the most of the day if I'm not doom scrolling vertical video social media platforms (yes, multiple), and apps are generally still very smooth and things happen quickly enough. The OLED screen is shockingly not showing any signs of burn-in. For those who weren't around, My Pixel 2 XL screen was fully tinted blue at this age, which was the catalyst for upgrading to a Pixel 6 Pro back then. But as of right now, the only issue with my phone is that it warms up, which honestly was an issue from day-one. Gotta keep a closer eye on the battery life though.

So I guess I'm upgrading from my Pixel 7 pro to a Samsung galaxy S26 Ultra (Through no expense apart from a cover). It's striking just how similar the form factor of the two phones are. The size is pretty much identical, the main difference being how the camera bump on the Samsung is moronically parked to the side making the phone wobble when lying on a table. The camera is hopefully better though.

Still, not much has happened in the last 4 years.

I broke the screen on my #Google #Pixel7pro recently and decided to buy a #Pixel10ProXL. The #Pixel10 was delivered yesterday.

Today on the way home, hours before holding the 10, I wanted to take a photo on the 7. For the first time in THREE YEARS it focused in and out to find the focus. For three years, the camera on the 7 has relied on the utterly broken single-dot time-of-flight sensor instead of sharpness like everyone else. (Apple has decent multi-point. That also works)

So, has anyone experienced a similar issue in the past with the #Pixel7Pro? Is there any cheap/simple way to fix it? I love the Pixel, specially the camera, but in this state it is not worth the hassle.

Meanwhile, I'm back to my #Galaxy #S23FE, which I got just a few months before the Pixel arrived. It is a very good phone but... It's not the Pixel.
