UPDATE:
was basically flat on my back most of yesterday and just woke up. haven’t slept this much in a while, so i guess, beside being immunized against the body horrors of #shingles, the extra sleep is totally worth it.
folks, if you’re 50 or older, get your #Shingrix #vaccines.
remember: taking care of our health is revolutionary praxis.

A no-brainer for protecting your brain.
A course of the shingles vaccine may reduce the risk of dementia by about 20%.

I wouldn't say the shingles vaccine was *fun*...
I got it and later that afternoon, felt pretty blech and wiped out, so I just went to bed.
Our housecats curled up next to me and talked about me...
"What's wrong with Cat-Daddy?"
"He smells like he was at the vet! I think they gave him a shot, and that's why he feels bad now."
"Oh, that happens to me too! He should sleep it off!"
"We'll help him by sleeping next to him."

Yeah, California Senator Dianne Feinstein got shingles and it caused encephalitis, which messed her up pretty badly.
It can get into the brain, or the eyes.
When I got shingles on my back, my spouse saw and identified it immediately.
She's sharp! Love her!
She hustled me to the doctor, and I got antivirals to stop virus replication.
We figure vaccinations and avoiding infections is the best way to stay healthy and delay senility,
We both got vaccinated ASAP.

In case you missed it: getting the #shingles #vaccine lowers your risk of dementia later in life by 20% and even slows the progress of the disease for people already suffering from Alzheimer’s.
Got the second Vaccine dose about three weeks ago, had waited for 7 weeks as that is said to reduce possible side effects. There were some, especially tired feeling but nothing bad.
GO for it Shingles is horrible.Alzheimers worse still.

Shingles itself is awful: painful and even mentally debilitating. So please consider getting the vaccine.

"The case for the #Shingles #vaccine linked to reduced dementia, which is mostly less Alzheimer’s disease, has been strengthened with a 4th natural experiment that not only corroborates the previous ones, but also, via data triangulation, helps support a cause-and-effect."
We need to take vaccines to get the amazing health benefits. So happy I have been able to do so, including the newest Shingles vaccine - Shingrix.

A recent pharmacoepidemiological study indicates that older adults who receive the recombinant #shingles vaccine (Shingrix) exhibit a 24% lower risk of being diagnosed with #dementia over a four-year period compared to unvaccinated peers.

12 hours since #Covid shot 12, and I'm down to about 40-50% arc movement in any direction before the muscle becomes painful enough to stop movement. My fault for letting the paracetamol lapse ~8 hours ago (I wanted a Whisky). #Flu Vax in a week or two after, then another couple of weeks for the (so I'm told) "strap in for the ache" of #Shingles Vax.
On the upside, sprained finger is (slowly) recovering.

Feeling sickly from my second #shingles jab.
This is the appointed hour for me to awkwardly gush emotional and tell you that you're all brilliant and lovely and I love you all.
(I get seriously sappy when I'm sick. Like, literally lying on an ER bed, listening to Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely" and blubbering like a loon.
A friend described it as my superpower. My immediate response was "I DID NOT ASK FOR THIS!!" 😂) -
got my second shingles vax yesterday.
today, i feel like i was pushed off a cliff.
still, from what i gather, it beats getting shingles.

@shansterable also, getting shingles is pretty terrible even if it's not life threatening. Can confirm. Direct nerve stimulation ain't fun.

the study about #Shingrix protecting from the brain decay of #Alzheimer's #dementia was done at Oxford University and, interesting enough, the benefit was more conclusive in women:
