One interesting thing about share ownership is the role of pensions in the UK.

If we look at direct ownership of shares, only around 9% of households have any exposure to the stock market;

but if we include pensions' savings than this proportion rises to around 44%.

This suggests stock markets play a bigger role in the population's lives than many may suspect... but also over half of the population have no ability to profit from shares' inflationary potential.
