What happens after a puffball releases all of it spores? With most puffballs the outer layer (peridium) is frail enough that the whole puffball just sort of collapses. But with thicker-rinded species like this Pigskin Poison Puffball, the layer can peel back leaving behind a cool looking lace-edged crater.
