  1. When the cat's away the mice will play is a phrase that comes to mind. Why? BBC chairman has gone AWOL during the biggest existential crisis at the corporation for years, maybe decades. Both Richard Sharp and director general Tim Davie refused to be interviewed by Victoria Derbyshire on tonight's #Newsnight. Some BBC staffers are feeling emboldened. They're starting to lose their fear of their Tory bosses. That's a good thing. #SackTimDavie #SackRichardSharp

  2. It is because of widely shared tweets like this that I have not deactivated my Twitter account. I want to see the same level of support for such messages on Mastodon. And we can only get that by patiently explaining to those still imprisoned in Elon Musk's hellhole that there's an alternative. Musk will have to kick me off rather than asking me to walk the plank. #IStandWithGaryLineker #SackTimDavie

  3. Critics of the BBC's Tory bias have won a battle, but the war goes on. From #IStandWithGaryLineker we need to move to #SackTimDavie. We need that hashtag because he insists he did nothing wrong. He's a Tory. And a hypocrite. He can't defend political impartiality because of his Tory values. Non news freelancers can't be gagged on social media. And Bectu/NUJ won't tolerate this. Solidarity with BBC freelancers.

  4. Those who have added the #IStandWithGaryLineker hashtag over the last few days should not demobilize. On the contrary, given Tim Davie's refusal to admit he's done what he's done because of his Tory values, he's got to go. He can't be trusted to appoint an 'independent' panel to review guidelines for non-news freelancers. #SackTimDavie
