I just bought something from China. It cost $32.27. Payment was via PayPal who wanted to bill me in pounds (£25.11). I changed to dollars, and PayPal warned me about card fees and conversion rates. Starling Bank charged me £24.10.
PayPal was created as a result of the merger of Peter Thiel's (and others) and Elon Musk's companies. I guess you have to become an evil fascist billionaire somehow. Just saying.
