Fugaku machine is still in 7th place, but #RIKEN wants an upgrade and has already awarded a contract to F#ujitsu to build its successor and the custom #Arm-based #CPU called “#MONAKAX” that will power it.
On Friday, the institution announced a change to its plan for #FugakuNEXT: Adding Nvidia GPUs, and contracting the #AI hardware giant to design systems that incorporate its accelerators into the supercomputer.

Kentaro and I went to visit RIKEN in Kobe today for the launch event of their new IBM system. (Quantinuum's system @ RIKEN has been operational for months 😂 ) Here's some pictures.
