Richmond Public Schools in Virginia shut off internet access in response to a cybersecurity incident, leaving classrooms open but limiting digital teaching tools. Superintendent Jason Kamras said phone and email service were also limited; students could not use school-issued Chromebooks or access digital assignments.
Officials have announced no restoration timetable, and Kamras said outside cybersecurity experts and law enforcement are helping assess the incident. The district has not confirmed reported data-theft claims or said whether ransomware was involved.
