Kinda astonishing that there’s still no open source reimplementation of the old #BTSync​/​#ResilioSync applications/protocol.

There’s lots of private sync solutions… but nothing that allows for easy, “anonymous”, selective, large dataset distribution. “anonymous” as in “I don’t know who is downloading”. (trackerless, ad-hoc, BitTorrent)

And since I can already hear people typing… “but #SyncThing…”.
NO, it does *not* cover that use-case, and explicitly doesn’t want to.

Resilio Sync 3.0은 상업용 라이선스를 판매하지 않으면서도 한국어로 상업용에 쓸 수 없도록 제한하고 있다. 상업용 라이선스는 엔터프라이즈 급 컨설턴트 서비스로만 파는 듯하다. BYOD 시대인데 용도를 명확하게 어떻게 구분해야할 지…….
5년 전에는 Syncthing을 써 볼 때는 고용량 파일 동기화 시에 파일이 변조하여 오동작하였고, 해시 체크하면 서버 간에 파일이 상이했다. 모든 파일을 폐기하며 이용을 중지했다.
독립 랩이 늘어나며 Synology Drive 이용이 어려워 몇 개월 전부터 다시 Syncthing을 시험 가동했다.
600GB 정도의 이미지 저장소였고, 이번에 130GB 패키지 파일을 동기화했다. 수신 쪽 해시 맞춰보고 괜찮으면 계속 쓸 듯하다.

… und ich werde immer gefragt, warum ich so wenig Auto-Updates mache, warum ich so lange mit Updates warte, warum ich … Ja Leute, DARUM … Offenbar hatte ich das Auto-Update für diese Software aktiviert und nun stehe ich da… 😩

Hat es schon jemand geschafft eine #ResilioSync Lizenz über das CLI (ohne web UI) hinzuzufügen?
`rslsync --identity` bzw `--license` funktionierte bei mir bisher leider nicht.

After using #syncthing #resiliosync and #seafile for some years I'm thinking about migrating to #pydio
Tools like #Dropbox of course are not real alternative

Idk if its my specific choice of distro in #KDENeon, but I'm feeling a bit burnt out with so much fiddling with the #Linux command line and system files.

I've had to learn by too much trial and error how to set #ResilioSync, and I've spent HOURS trying to set up a remote desktop solution in order to remotely control my desktop through #SamsungDex to absolutely no avail.

With this much fiddling and frustration, I'm wondering if I should hop back to Windows.

I’m willing to pay hundreds € on a #nas and HDDs … but paying for cloud storage, SaaS or VPS (as a consumer) feels wrong.

To keep up the facade I tell myself it’s my hobby so it’s worth it.

Been #selfhosting for a while now. Here are some of the google things I have moved way from

- Docs - Replace with #nextcloud
- Photos - Replace with #immich
- Drive - Replace with either #nextcloud or #resiliosync

There is no way i'm going back to google for either of these.

Similar approach: I use #ResilioSync with #keeweb or #keepassXC - resiliosync synchronizes the database p2p on all my devices, android, macOS, iOS, windows, linux - never an issue, would do this setup again. flawless with new installs. and convenient

it could be extended by adding stuff like #resiliosync or #syncthing to get files onto a server or NAS in the house, or #rsync or #rclone... for me, I would like to get it to auto upload to #lightroom but that's my preference (plus, only photos, not videos!). You could even extend it and #cameratocloud with frame.io or something... if its #opensource you could do anything...

Passing on the new #ownCloud too. It's definitely faster than #Nextcloud , but still doesn't come even close to #ResilioSync

@arda For me the absolute best in pure syncing is #ResilioSync

But I am testing the new ownCloud because it would make it easier to share stuff and I would also have a web access to my files, which I can't with Resilio

I gave #Nextcloud another try hoping that the v24 would be faster at #sync than the previous versions. It's still crap and switched back to #ResilioSync. Resilio is just a monster in speed. I have yet to find another sync tool that comes close to Resilio in speed.

I use #ResilioSync to synchronize my #genealogy folder with the #Centurial data files (.cent) from PC to my notebook and back. Working fine.

I'm not that happy about the #gedcom export. I hope this will be improved next year.

Been playing around with syncing tools in the #homelab. I started with #resiliosync and found the experience to be... lacking. The big problem is that it reports its IP address as the IP address of the host, not your public IP. Obviously, this causes problems when a remote host tries to connect to you and ends up using the IP address of the Docker container. It ended up falling back to relay which was capping out around 400KB/s, a paltry excuse for upload speed when I'm on #gigfiber.

Today, I set up #Syncthing as an alternative. The difference is night and day. It properly reported the correct public IP address to connect to and I've seen speeds topping out around 25MB/s.

@zaddymagic @gentlemangeek @pluralistic Thanks for the tip. I haven't tried #ResilioSync since it's not #OpenSource and #syncthing and #NNCP meet my needs. Syncthing does have a way to exclude files by pattern as well: https://docs.syncthing.net/users/ignoring.html

For these I'm actually seriously considering #resiliosync ...

- он не работает с символьными ссылками
- намертво вешает мои мобильные устройства при передаче больших объёмов
- непредсказуемо долго ищет пиры даже в локальной сети

Daaaanke #nextcloud. Ich war schon ganz verzweifelt, wie es gelingen könnte, Dateien (PDF, Text) zwischen iOS, Linux und Android synchron zu halten. Einige Versuche (z.B. #ResilioSync) sind an der speichermäßigen Trennung oder mangelnder "Files"-Integration gescheitert. Einfach bearbeiten und sich über Rück-Synchronisation keine Gedanken machen ging da nicht. Bei Nextcloud ist das richtig gut gelöst und noch dazu #opensource und #selbstgehostet 👍
