Ich habe letzte Woche zwei alte, ausgemusterte #UniFi AP AC Pro WiFi-APs erhalten, deren ekelhaft klebrige Soft Touch-Oberflächen jede Menge Schmutz angenommen hatten. 🤢
Zwei alte Stofffetzen, eine nicht unerhebliche Menge Isopropanol, moderate Muskelkraft und vielleicht 20 bis 30 min investierte Lebenszeit später und die Teile sehen besser aus als neu. 🤩

Finally completed my $10 SNES console refurbishment. Changed our the broken power port and just did a clear case swap.

I bought a refurbished #Lenovo X1 Carbon with a repainted keyboard. Not only did it have a weird rough texture, but the paint came off when I scratched it.
I believe the #refurbishing partner was #T1A, and as much as I love the idea of these corporate laptops having a second and even third life, this is not how you do it. The store took it back, no questions asked. Clearly they agreed with me.
The placement of the serial number sticker should also have triggered an early big fat red flag.

Removing the ability to boot from an external drive if the internal one is broken is just #PlannedObsolescence & #AntiRepairDesign to prevent people from #UseLonger and #Repair as well as #Refurbishing #Apple's devices.
The "#Security" Argument is complete #FUD since by the point the SSD is so dead, no data can be recovered from it without a lab anyway. -

@machias Personally, I think that #Reusing and #Refurbishing is very important and can be done...

I always buy #secondhand phones and #computers these days. Thinking about treating myself to a newer #laptop. I want a good screen for photos. Not sure whether to go ebay, as usual, it try a #refurbishing company. Any recommendations? (UK)

a clean and healthy #environment is a human right.
#privacy is a human right.
Breathable air and drinkable water are human rights.
The concept of #work should be abolished or significantly reformed.
#travel is a human right, and should not be restricted by #cars.
#lawns should be abolished.
Reusing, #refurbishing, #upcycling, etc. are (when feasible) all morally superior to buying new. -
