OoO Microsoft apparently managed to finally add an actual feature people have been requesting for years.
You now finally can install Windows (Server) onto ReFS instead of NTFS volumes.
Hope they didn't #vibecode that support too. Filesystems were already quite messy beforehand.

I'm seeing an observable behavior difference in File.Replace() between Win10 NTFS and Win11 ReFS (DevDrive):
On regular C: drive I get two renames, on DevDrive I get a delete of the original + rename. Weird.

@darkknight817 I's say as some constructive advice (literally) get a vps and a domain and post resume, links and projects on it and then you can post direct links to all relevant data for your search - could be a bit of work but fun as well and may help you narrow things down and generate more interest #refs #apps #interests

Do NOT use #ReFS!
2 days ago I've updated to #Windows11 24h2 from Windows 10.
I have a drive for all my projects with ReFS #filesystem on it.
After an update my ReFS drive is not recognized by Windows. System says that partition is damaged and have to be reformated.
After hours of googling and reading forums I found info about that #Microsoft just silently dropped the old ReFS driver and replaced it with a new one which is not compatible with older partitions.
Windows Server 2022 at the same time does a silent upgrade of your volume without any problems.
If you are in the same situation, you have two options:
1. Boot from Windows10 live image and rescue your data;
2. Get a Windows Server VM, attach the whole physical disk with ReFS partition to it, boot and wait about 5 minutes (or try opening your refs volume inside the VM). -

Я серьёзно, это не попытка вкинуть токсичное говно, а предупреждение на личном опыте.Несколько дней назад я обновился до Windows 11 24h2.
После обновления мой раздел со всеми проектами, форматированный в ReFS (крутую, новую и надёжную файловую систему от Microsoft) перестал открываться.
Система заявила, что раздел повреждён, и его нужно отформатировать.После часов чтения форумов выяснилось, что в Windows 11 изменился драйвер ReFS, а старая его версия была молча удалена без предупреждения.
При этом Windows Server 2022 также молча обновляет версию ReFS, и конечный пользователь не испытывает никаких проблем.А если вы всё же оказались в моей ситуации, то вариантов два:
1. Запустить Windows 10 с флешки и скопировать свои данные на другой диск;
2. Скачать виртуальную машину с Windows server 2022, примонтировать к ней свой физический диск и просто загрузиться. Система сделает всё автоматически. -

While on #Windows a similar operation takes 30 minutes?
Is #NTFS really that bad? I use #btrfs on my Linux box, but had similar results with #ext4.
I notice Microsoft's official documentation for developers is to create a dedicated partition formatted as #ReFS: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dev-drive/
