Just in case anybody missed it: Marek Olšák (mareko) moved from AMD to Valve, as you can see from his #FDO GitLab profile: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mareko
And as anybody would expect, who knows him a bit, he hit the ground running (though that seems slow, when it comes to Marek) and has already the first MRs for #RADV merged, eg. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/41689 (read the MR description to know, why I've linked it 😉).
This is certainly a loss for #AMD and a major win for #Valve

Se vienen importantes mejoras en el rendimiento del raytracing para el driver libre de Vulkan en tarjetas gráficas AMD en Linux.
Aunque todavía está pendiente de que el código programado por Valve se incluya en Mesa, hay ya comparativas en el hilo del merge request de pasar de ejecutar el videojuego Silent Hill 2 Remake de 40 FPS a 60 FPS.

#Linux 6.19's Significant ~30% Performance Boost For Old #AMD #Radeon #GPU
With Linux 6.19, the GCN 1.0/1.1 GPUs are now defaulting to modern #AMDGPU kernel #driver in place of the legacy "Radeon" DRM driver that has been the default for GCN 1.1/1.0 and other #ATI/AMD graphics processors of the past 2+ decades. Besides #RADV #Vulkan support when comparing #OpenGL tests that ran on both kernel drivers, on average with Linux 6.19 was 30% better performance out-of-the-box!

Näiden korttien hintahan tulee myös samalla ropisten alas. Pingviinin kannattaa alkaa sovittelemaan ostohousuja; Linuxissa RDNA1 / RDNA2 käyttäen Mesa, RADV -ajureita on muikea kokemus.
Moinen päätös yleisen tuen päättämisestä näinkin uusille laitteille dunkkaa pahasti, totta maar. Päätös ei siis kuitenkaan kosketa Linuxia ja siinä suosittuja avoimia ajureita -- Windows-käyttäjät taas töräytetään ikään kuin nyssen alle.

Adiós a AMDVLK... Pero no te preocupes que te lo vamos a explicar .
Actualmente en Linux hay dos drivers de Vulkan para tarjetas AMD. El primero es RADV, que está desarrollado por Valve y es el que usas por defecto. El segundo es AMDVLK, que estaba siendo desarrollado por AMD, y que es peor en todo salvo en raytracing.
La situación lleva a una división de esfuerzos que ahora se arregla ya que AMD va a apostar por RADV.
