This Radio Shack TRS-80 Model 12 micro computer has been in my mom’s attic for at bit more than 30 years. It features a Z80 4 MHz microprocessor and 64KB of RAM. Originally used in my father’s office, he brought it home in the 90’s when it was decommissioned, gave it to me to play with. It didn’t have any software and I had no idea how to get any, so I couldn’t really do much with it other than watch it boot to a prompt.
I wonder if it will still boot.

TFW you can't find either of the things you know you have which would solve the problem more elegantly, so you have to kluge something by opening a virgin unopened bag of parts from #RadioShack.
...and then it turns out you didn't need them after all. I have needlessly defiled a sacred relic, and I hate it when that happens.
(Who among us has not experienced this tragic turn of events, I ask unto thee.)
So, anyway, the office's hifi amp (Yamaha CR-600), which weighs at least as much as your average laser-printer, is now in the equipment loft overhead -- so I can finally get this goldang full-height equipment rack outta here...

This robot could be programmed, and it used cassette tapes for memory. It is designed to hold and move drinks. Pretty wow for the 80s.
Personally, I was more interested in the fireman's hat with integrated flashing light and siren (https://www.ebay.com/itm/277870190036). Nope, never got one.

Working thru a backlog of projects. This old turntable needed a new belt which arrived and installed no issues. I’m getting no audio. The cartridge coils test open. Safe to assume the cartridge is toast? I think my favorite was BEST, but earlier, Toys'R'Us, because they always had an epic computer section. ;)

I learned by listening to the #GordonWest cassette series from #RadioShack. When I took my tests, I think the license I got was called Tech Plus, or something like that.
I passed the 5wpm test, and they talked me into taking the 13wpm test. Somehow, I passed it, so at least I didn't have to take another code test for a while.
I never really could do #CW until I got on the air. There was a #Novice portion of #40m, and I hung out there, and it all worked
