Racial disparities in organ transplants in the United States are significant. Black patients, who make up approximately 28% of those on the waiting list, receive only about 23% of the transplants. This disparity is attributed to formulas that were once used to assess the severity of Black kidney disease, which resulted in delayed access to transplants.
