  1. I would love that these ‘people’ be prosecuted. The British (OK English but I don’t want to labour the point, we have our own nutters as well. people in glass houses etc etc..) Wakefield should be prevented from practicing anywhere.

  15. When Donald Trump is not unjustly enriching himself (can you say "corruption?") he and #RFKjr are worsening our health:

"Vaccine Makers Curtail Research and Cut Jobs. Federal policies under #RFKjr that are hostile to vaccines have 'sent a chill through the entire industry'.”:

  18. This is interesting. The #Texas Penal Code makes no mention of conversion therapy on minors, yet § 35A.02(a)(7)(B) forbids providers from claiming fraudulent services. With no accredited provider seriously recommending conversion therapy, the statute thus presumably proscribes it as a medical treatment, rendering any new law redundant, not to mention the risk of said laws extending to counseling—an obvious constitutional no-no. Partner got a grounding sheet thing. It was recommended by her Brother and Sister in law. (Overly credulous family imho)
Now I'm, well ... Less willing to give credence to the claims of people peddling snake oil that's already been proven false.
Anyways, I go along with it, in the interests of having an open mind.
It's a little uncomfortable as it's a strip of fabric and a foot wide and ten feet long positioned across the bed about at calf position. It's also connected via a wire plugged into the building ground. You know for the grounding.
A week went by. No noticeable improvements in sleep. Partner takes it off the bed and contacts the company for a refund. They offer us 60% refund to just keep it rather than a full refund and send it back.
I'm pretty convinced that they still made profit and that shows what the real cost/value of it was.

  22. A quotation from Thomas Carlyle

Some speculators have a short way of accounting for the Pagan religion: mere quackery, priestcraft, and dupery, say they; no sane man ever did believe it, — merely contrived to persuade other men, not worthy of the name of sane, to believe it! It will be often our duty to protest against this sort of hypothesis about men’s doings and history; and I here, on the very threshold, protest against it in reference to Paganism, and to all other isms by which man has ever for a length of time striven to walk in this world. They have all had a truth in them, or men would not have taken them up. Quackery and dupery do abound; in religions, above all in the more advanced decaying stages of religions, they have fearfully abounded: but quackery was never the originating influence in such things; it was not the health and life of such things, but their disease, the sure precursor of their being about to die!

Thomas Carlyle (1795-1881) Scottish essayist and historian
Lecture (1840-05-05), “The Hero as Divinity,” Home House, Portman Square, London

  25. «Chiropractic medicine was born in the late 1890s, when Daniel David Palmer, a self-taught healer in Davenport, Iowa, claimed to restore a janitor’s hearing by realigning his spine. Palmer’s theory went far beyond anatomy: He believed that misaligned vertebrae — professionally known as subluxation — blocked the flow of 'innate intelligence', a vital spiritual force connecting body & soul.»

Palmer also rejected the germ theory of disease

"More Americans are injecting themselves with unapproved chemicals that are pitched as ways to build muscle, rejuvenate skin and extend life, the latest example of the nation’s fascination with alternative therapies and wellness hacks.

Behind the trend is the surging popularity of GLP-1 weight loss medications, a class of so-called peptides approved to help users quickly shed pounds.

But the peptides being promoted by influencers, celebrities and wellness gurus are different: Many have never been approved for human use and much of their purported evidence comes from studies in rats and other animals. Several peptides, such as BPC-157 and TB-500, are banned by international sports authorities as doping substances.

'None of them are proven,' said Dr. Eric Topol, a research methods expert and director of Scripps Research Translational Institute. 'None of them have gone through what would be considered adequate clinical trials, but nonetheless many people are taking these. It’s actually quite extraordinary.'

Those who’ve highlighted peptides’ benefits include Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has built a national following among Americans who are deeply skeptical of health experts, pharmaceutical companies and traditional medicine."
