As promised: the design of the CMPTR signal breakout board is released! Does it work? Yep. Is it cheap? Not really. However, it a nice option to have if you have a Sony PVM with a CMPTR connector and you want to use RGBS or RGBI/CGA/TTL.

A couple of extra photos of the CMPTR board and how it hooks up to the PVM. It's still crazy that Sony decided to use a DB25 cable for RGB/RGBI/CGA/audio...not sure if it wouldn't have been easier to just break those out on the back. Either way, it's not something I have to worry about again.
I'll end up posting the schematic and PCB stuff once I verify that the 2.1 version of the board doesn't have the same issues that this one does. They're minor, but I want to make sure it's 100% good to go before posting them online.

So, made the CMPTR breakout board, got RGB into the TV and all of the colors were very, very dim. Even cranking the brightness to 100% didn't solve the issue, and the picture was then slightly brighter and washed out. Spent a ton of time troubleshooting the board and got to the point where there was no obvious issue with the signal going into the TV.
Decided to sleep on the problem and attacked it today where I realized what the issue was: the Picture setting was at the minimum. After adjusting that up to a reasonable value everything looks so much better. Did a rough calibration on the colors and the end result speaks for itself.

Got a present delivered in my driveway, and it's definitely TV shaped. A good indication of weight is the fact it's strapped down on a palette.

So after some thought, I think I'm gonna break out all of the signals coming out of the CMPTR connector. Shouldn't really increase the cost of the device, and it might be useful for troubleshooting if you could inline the board so I'd have to add another DB-25 connector.

Took the front frame off to secure the little "handles" on the front of the PVM, didn't take too long and fortunately they just needed to be tightened up. I will need to clean out the interior of the PVM as it's accumulated quite a bit of dust and crap internally. It's not horrible, but it's not great either. Cleared off a spot for the PVM to live in the office as well.

I think I figured out the issue with my PVM and Raspberry Pi. Fortunately, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with either. Unfortunately, it's going to cost another ~$60 in components 😑.
But man those sweet sweet scanlines are worth it.

Feeling sad 🥺. Finally got my Recalbox RGB Dual and my PVM doesn't want to play nice. No matter what I do I can't get rid of vertical sync issues.
