The price argument against #EVs is quickly evaporating. We have affordable and fun #cars like the #Renault 5 and #Hyundai #Inster, we have manufacturers selling their electric vans for the same price as ICE. The #Kia #PV5 is challenging all in the compact van space, regardless of power source. And I just noticed that the cheapest crew cab #pickup in Finland, regardless of power source, is the #KGM #Musso #EV.
Now part of that is high taxes on ICE versions, but even before tax, prices are close.

Well we had a good look at the Kia PV5 Passenger and decided it’s far too compromised for us.
All the fixed glass and inflexible seating arrangement put us off. Perhaps if we had never had a Swiss army knife like JDM Minivan previously we could have adjusted.
Basically it is too 5 seat PSV minibus for us. I’d rather hire a van or minibus when I need one.
Van versions definatly make more sense. If only standard sheets of ply and plasterboard fitted in them.
Sad.

So as much as I hate Facebook I’ve found a couple of ex long term Elgrand E51 owners who now have PV5. And they absolutely love them so thats good news and is very reassuring.
That and PBV sales peeps explaining current stock and availability has made venturing back to the dark place worthwhile. Still feel dirty about it.
If only I could find time to go test drive one & try work out a deal. We’re flat out getting #WierdHouse #woodenhouse ready & empty old house as sale is close 🙄

We’re seriously considering buying a #PV5 Passenger 5 seat Plus #EV now.
I havent driven one yet but all reviews seem to indicate I’ll be happy there (we ran an Elgrand E51 for 10 years and loved it so size is close).
Its V2X “ready” so hopefully there will be a compatible charger/system so we can use it as a home battery later.
Has anyone got one that can offer insight into living with a PV5 long term? Or know where I can find owners moaning etc without going on Facebook?

Feeling dirty.
Went on Facebook for the first time in years to see how people are getting on with their #PV5 as we might go have a look at one.
Loads of posts but I don’t think I actually learned anything other than how horrible the site is still. I think id rather ask a chatbot for advice 🤣

Ich war ja voll des Lobes über den Kia #PV5. Bin ich auch immer noch. Super Fahrzeug.
Aber die Software… 😳
Die App funktioniert seit zwei Tagen gar nicht. Jetzt kann man fragen, warum braucht man für ein Auto eine App. Aber um die Ladeleistung an den verfügbaren Solarstrom anzupassen ist sie halt schon sinnvoll.
Und die Verbindung zum Telefon klappt auch nicht - und damit auch die Freisprecheinrichtung nicht. 😞
Mal schauen, ob sie das bald in den Griff bekommen.

Test drove the #PV5 today and #Kia really has nailed it with this 5-seater van bodied #EV. The outer dimensions are almost identical to a Tesla M3, but there is vast amounts of space inside. Everyone can sit comfortably, loads of room for animals, hauling firewood, whatever. The interior is suitably utilitarian, which I like, and visibility is superb (apart from A pillars). I also dig the cyber exterior styling. It’s not fast, but what a package. And for that price too. Like driving the future.

#dailydog After one week with his new secondary home Jussi settles in quite well. Plenty of room for the whole pack, quietly moving as it is an all electric vehicle.
Shout out to @evcc as it is working great with two cars too - thanks for your great work!The can openers are very pleased, too. The plan is to build a light camper van out of it, so far it looks promising - Jussi will keep you posted!

Wow reading in a German #pv5 forum is disturbing. I hope those people don't represent the majority of Kia PV5 drivers. Some lecturing about not using powerstrips on V2L like everyone is doing around the world because of a theoretical danger (like driving?), others whine about a missing light in the trunk like it is "THE" most important thing, and others debating about 150kwh charging is never reached, hence the promised 30 min for 10-80% is reached easily.
Poor Germans. Never satisfied. -
Der neue #PV5 hat den bisher eher skeptischen Lieferfahry schon fast überzeugt.
Ich hoffe mit diesem Angebot kann ich noch ein bisschen anschubsen.

#Kia plant bis 2030 weltweit 14 #EAuto-Modelle, darunter Pkw, SUV und PBV-Modelle wie den #PV5.
In Europa sollen #Elektroautos dann 66 Prozent der Verkäufe ausmachen. Ab 2026 startet der #EV2 für den Massenmarkt. Zudem ist eine neue Elektroauto-Plattform mit höherer Batterie-Kapazität, besserer Energie-Dichte und mehr Motor-Leistung angekündigt. Auch das Geschäft mit Elektro-Transportern soll deutlich wachsen.
