The Psychonomic Society meeting is going great. Here's Dr. Steve with yesterday's presentation on an investigation of the relationship between transliminality and decision criterion for masked stimuli.
We have another poster tonight (6:00 PST) on a hybrid masked priming - psychological refractory period study (5023). Come see us! I'd also be glad to talk about the two tenure track jobs available at GSW.

Attention is receiving a lot of attention (Dad joke) at Psychonomics. There are 24 sessions on attention including the poster presentations. A thought is that this interest is related to understanding consciousness through the control and allocation of cognitive resources. It's still hard for psychology to use the big C word though.

Psychonomics! This feels extra special because it's my first in-person meeting since 2019 (pre-pandemic).

We have TWO tenure-track assistant professor openings in psychology at Georgia Southwestern State University. Our emphasis is on teaching. The area of specialization is open, with cognition and abnormal psychology being our greatest teaching needs. A Ph.D in psychology is required by the start date.

Best wishes for your travel to psychonomics. Sometimes, I also feel that the time spent traveling and preparing would be better spent on reading and writing.

Psychonomic Society colleagues: The FedEx print shop located in the conference hotel can print a 36" x 48" poster in color on plain paper for US$26. This is much easier than carrying poster tubes on the airplane. Contact them at [email protected] for a quote. Be aware that they might try to upsell you into a heavier poster paper.

Psychonomic society colleagues: The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference will be happening in San Francisco during the annual meeting. They anticipate 20,000 visitors - more than usual. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency says to expect "... congestion downtown, traffic delays, transit reroutes, delays and crowding..."

The carbon impact issue is worth bringing up to the society leadership, possibly at the business meeting usually on Saturday afternoon. For myself, I've been attending in-person every other year (or so) for multiple reasons. If the society chose to alternate meeting in-person then online it would cut the CO2 emissions about in half.

Getting ready for the 2023 Psychonomic Society meeting!
My project combines masked prime identification and the psychological refractory period to better assess stimulus awareness in masked priming experiments. Steve's poster explores how the transliminality personality trait impacts masked priming. The presentation times are Friday (Nov. 17) at noon (2201) and Saturday (Nov. 18) at 6:00 (5023). Come see us!
