I found this blog post through a LinkedIn post, where the poster captured my opinion about "standardizing practise" at the expense of developing deep expertise absolutely perfectly, better than I ever have.
Don't be put off by the negative and click-bait headline of the linked blog - read it for the masterful description of expertise, and the acknowledgement of the difficulty of measuring this. It also touches on the amount of courage and trust needed by school leaders to allow teachers the flexibility and resources to develop individual expertise.
It is always easier to measure and control the surface artefacts of a lesson or a school than it is to build a deep culture of mutual support, shared values, trust and responsibility.
