Vorsichtshalber schenke ich mir das Filosofieren über den sog. Jugendmedienschutz. Sondern weise Sie lieber zur eigenen Urteilsfindung schlicht und kurz darauf hin. Arte hält diese dreistaffelige Serie für Sie bereit:
“Happy Valley – in einer kleinen Stadt – In Halifax, West Yorkshire, kämpft Polizeisergeant Catherine Cawood täglich gegen Kriminalität und ihre eigenen Dämonen. Als der Vergewaltiger ihrer verstorbenen Tochter aus der Haft kommt, dreht er sofort sein nächstes krummes Ding – und Catherine setzt alles daran, ihn wieder dingfest zu machen. Der englische Wikipedia-Eintrag ist weit informativer als der deutsche. Aus ihm geht nicht nur die umfangreiche Behängung mit Preisen hervor, sondern auch eine nahezu einhellige Begeisterung der TV-Kritik in alten und neuen Medien. Ich teile diese positive Kritik.
Für den dummen, rechten “Kabarettisten”, dessen Name mir nicht einfallen will, wäre das Zwangsgucken dieser Serie – unter strengem Entzug von Chips und Alkohol – eine gerechte resozialisierende Sanktion. Ein angemessenes Verhalten deutscher Medien wäre es, das Ausmass ihrer Aufmerksamkeit auf ihn und auf diese TV-Serie schlicht zu tauschen. Aber das schaffen die nicht. Also muss ich es wieder machen.
Die kleinbritannische Provinz Yorkshire wird sehr gerne als Kulisse genutzt, um den sozialen Sprengstoff anschaulich zu machen, der sich seit Margaret Thatchers Zeit im einstigen Zentrum eines Weltreiches ansammelt. Wie auch hierzulande wird dazu ebenso gerne das Krimi-Genre genutzt. Nur dass die Brit*inn*en es seit Menschengedenken weit besser können als unsere Landsleute. Dramaturgisch, inzenatorisch und schauspielerisch.
Creative Producer von “Happy Valley” ist Sally Wainwright, nur sechs Jahre jünger als ich, von der es in der britischen Wikipedia heisst: “She is known for her television dramas, often set in her native West Yorkshire and featuring strong female characters, such as Scott & Bailey (2011–2016), Last Tango in Halifax (2012–2020), Happy Valley (2014–2023) and Riot Women (2025–).” “Scott & Bailey” hatte ich schon mit ähnlicher Begeisterung gesehen, ähnlich hart feministisch, aber nach meiner etwas verwelkten persönlichen Erinnerung vielleicht nicht so hart in der Bebilderung der Klassengesellschaft. Bei Mrs. Scott und Mrs. Bailey spielte ihre persönliche Bullinnenkarriere und ihre Beziehung zueinander eine grössere Rolle.
Ausserdem hervorzuheben ist Hauptdarstellerin Sarah Lancashire. Grosse Kunst. Danke.
Sollte sich die AfD-Schwester “UK Reform” bei der nächsten Parlamentswahl mit Hilfe des britischen Mehrheitswahlrechtes durchsetzen, weil die Demokrat*inn*en auch auf der kleinen Insel dümmer sind, als die Polizei erlaubt, dann stellen sich neue Fragen an die TV-Krimi-Kunst, die ich nicht zu beantworten wüsste.
