Small fix, big impact 🔧
Initial situation: The network card in my parents’ mini server (NUC5PHY, RealTek 8168/8111) wasn’t properly entering Wake-on-LAN mode during shutdown. The server powers down automatically after inactivity and is woken up on demand via cron (every 1 min) from their laptops. Without WoL, it just stays off → manual power-on required.
Solution: A patch for the NetBSD PCI network driver to hook it into the power management framework. On shutdown, the NIC is now correctly configured for WoL.
First tests: works as expected ✅

Most people don’t want to change. You’ll need lots of effort and baby steps. My tip is the following: the fewer the changes, the higher your chances of success.

There are 3 ways of doing #politics and thus three ways of governing states.
In the ideological form, you set your mind on something and try to turn it into reality. Cynical politics means that a person or group simply wants power. These forms are very common.
When you engage in #pragmatic politics, you see governing as a task and try to perform it as best you can. This doesn't always work, but you make a serious effort and try to learn from your mistakes. This is the rarest form of #governance. -

I would like to clear up a widespread misunderstanding about #spirituality. In our materialistic #culture, this term is mostly regarded as fantasy. The #Vedantic culture can only shrug its shoulders at this. Spirituality is something down-to-earth and pragmatic.
Everything material is transient and should be viewed as such. The cultured people of the East turned to that which is unchanging and could not disappoint them. What can be more #pragmatic than that?

I think that's what's needed: someone to unite enough #moderate, #pragmatic, and #patriotic #representatives from both parties in a unity coalition, in what's usually called in #Australia a #ConfidenceandSupply arrangement: that is, members agree to support the leadership and keep the government open, but votes on bills are not bound.
