How would you handle email addresses/inboxes/aliases for a non-lucrative organization?

I have a dedicated email server I administrate. So I can create as many inboxes, accounts and aliases I want.

I want an inbox per official role (like treasury, communication, etc) so if people change at those roles, they still have the whole history of the inbox and exchanges.

But I also want individual people to be able to have their own inboxes.

Of course, replying to a message directed at treasury should be sent as treasury, and not the individual.

Are there some templates or good practice to manage that?

I was thinking the inbox of roles are just there for history purposes and forwarding to the current individual person handling the role. But when they reply, it will be with the role, and not their individual email address.

I use postfix and have an ldap to handle authentication and authorization.

configuring #VPS that I'd had dormant for a while (was being used for experimental stuff) as proof of concept for #Cloud #VOIP #PBX using #FreePBX and #Asterisk with #Debian12 and the #Sangoma install script.

TIL: to get #PostFix to work correctly with #IONOS without paying for the commercial System Admin module you *must* install

or else the emails get knocked back with message "no worthy mechs found" which sounds like some kind of robot battle 😁 🤖

also added a swapfile (VPS doesn't have one normally), knocked off the commercial modules (which I don't use) and managed to get a couple of eztensions and routes working (after some false starts as I'm using an unusual config linking to another virtual #pbx)

Don’t suppose I know anyone who has migrated (recently) from exim to postfix? After 20+ years, I’m getting sick of exim‘s abstruse config and general faffiness and postfix is probably the only workable alternative (given how many special things have been accumulated and must be kept.)

Suggestions for alternate mail daemons gratefully received if they can be coerced into shenanigans.

(But not sendmail. I did my time in the sendmail mines and I am not returning.)
