I was researching a way to get to my home network remotely when my #pocketID is unreachable, as I’m using it as an identity provider for #Tailscale. Turns out #unifi One-Click VPN is like Tailscale, but with the server on your router. Also, it is actually a #wireguard so you can connect any server to it. Looks like a good alternative for Tailscale.

Dealing with passkeys is kind of hassle for me. Does it get better after a while?
I’m asking because I started selfhosting PocketID and it ONLY has passkeys, no passwords and I have to decide if I keep it or not.

I've installed Pocked ID recently and switched many of my self hosted services over to it, and I absolutely love it! It's pretty, it's fast, it works really well!
Pocket ID is an Open ID provider that you can use for self hosted Single Sign On.
I just wish more services supported it!

@christian I use #PocketID as my OIDC SSO provider for #Forgejo. Pushing and pulling works just fine.

I've been putting off some necessity maintenance and system streamlining on my home server for a while. Everything works, and services are secure and up to date, but I've got a bit of a messy setup that mixes #podman containers with #docker containers, #tailscale with #tsdproxy. I say this all all before I had my own domain, hence tadproxy.
Not I have my own domain, I want to refactor my server using #netbird with #caddy and #pocketid

As promised in the last weeknote, here's the write up for how I use #caddyserver and #pocketid to enable OIDC for my #calibre_web server

So far i am liking PocketID as an OIDC provider.
Clean interface, LDAP integration is a breeze.Just need to find out why the cli cannot connect to the service. Guess it is a NixOS/systemd thing.

While I was away, I finally got NetBird back up and running, and damn it was hard but it’s worth the effort
Setting it up with PocketID for authentication was probably the most headachy thing I could’ve pulled off, but now that it’s done and stable, I ain’t touching it
If you are looking for a stable and fully self hosted Tailscale replacement, I highly recommend !

So I have a second instance of #PocketID and #KanBn now. Don’t ask. I have plans.

Nothing like a production #docker patching on a Monday morning. #PocketID v2+ bringing "breaking changes" again...
Made it to the other side with all services authenticating correctly.
Is #selfhosting worth it? Ofc it is!

Awaaaa
I've been trying to enable PocketID for Dawarich and I couldn't make it work, always getting a "Record not found" error...
Turns out, it was a PEBKAC, I had copied the base64 of the client id wrong, so it had extra chars... Oh well, at least now it works !

PocketID here, passkeys there, OIDC all around
I’ve been talking a lot about moving all of my services’ authentication over to PocketID, a passkey only IDP
I think it’s important to understand what we run on our homelab/homeprod, and @computerphile just happened to have a video explaining how the whole thing works
Greatly laid out and illustrated, as always :)

Doing a quick cluster check mid-holidays, just to make sure everything is working
PocketID's database cluster fails to backup, and 1/3 replica is currently down/stuck rebuilding
The question of the night: Will it survive until I make it back home and have some time for it ?!
Answer next week#selfhosted #homelab #pocketid #oidc #idp #cluster #db #database #wal #backup

Changing #OIDC provider for your #Tailscale network requires contacting their support team. Still solved fast. Thanks @tailscale
By the way, did you know you can use your own identity provider to login to Tailscale? I’m now using #PocketID for that.

#PocketID is very nice-looking and simple. It also supports custom schemas in callback URLs already (last time I tried it, the only schema allowed was “https”).
But while migrating from #Authentik, I realized that some #selfhosted services don’t provide the ability to change identity provider after initial account linking. Some database shenanigans are required.
