Sony ilmoitti sulkevansa sekä PlayStation 3:n että PlayStation Vitan digitaaliset pelikaupat vuonna 2027
PlayStation Storen sulkeutumisen jälkeen kummallekaan konsolille ei voi enää ostaa uusia pelejä digitaalisesti. Vamhojen, jo aiemmin digitaalsiesti ostettujen pelien uudelleen lataukset ja asennukset toimivat kuitenkin vielä kaupan sulkeutumisen jälkeenkin.

I did a thing.... Yesterday I charged one of my PS3 controllers and today... I turned it on!
It needed an update for the PSN to work. And I almost forgot that, back in the day, I bought some older games that I installed on the hard drive (my original HD got issues, so then I replaced it with a bigger one... Originally it had a 80GB drive, it has 222GB/465GB free space now)... Maybe I should try out an old fashioned game... :ablobcatangel:
And remember to charge the other controller as well, to keep the battery working better....
But yeah... It still works... I even have the remote control for this console, as I used it a lot as blu-ray 💿 player back in the day...

I decided to set up a vintage gaming console that's turning 20 this year! It had just been collecting dust in my storage, but for today's RetroGaming Day, I felt like it was appropriate to dig it back out and see if it still works!
And it did! After some touching up (and de-dusting, most importantly) it actually spun up after all these years!
I played some of its – now admittedly quite archaic – games, and contrary to what I expected from gaming hardware this simplistic, it was actually kind of fun!
It's crazy the length people had to go to back in the day just to play a video game. It uses digital video disks (DVDs) to store software. I was only a toddler at the time, so I hardly remember these times…

Today I really wanted to repaste my PS3 (25XX model) and pretty much everything went wrong. I thought I had canned air when I didn't, I only had mere drops of isopropyl alcohol left. On top of that, the PRAM battery's slot gave up, and I had to jam the battery inside of the slot by using tape around it.
To my surprise, not only it seems to be working, but I also shaved pretty much ~20°c from the CPU and GPU while in-game (tested with Gran Turismo 6).

Does anyone have recommendations for where I can get a #PS3 fixed?
It's a fully backward compatible #Playstation3 fat. It runs, it plays, but it overheats. It needs a delid. I can't stomach the idea of letting this thing become scrap. Many of these things don't work anymore, and this one only needs a delid. -
