Polymer Editing Can Upcycle Waste Into Higher Performance Plastics
Adam Malin/ORNL, U.S. Dept. of Energy By editing the polymers of discarded plastics, chemists at the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory have found a way to generate new macromolecules with more valuable properties than those of the starting material. This is a good video - time lapse of cigarettes in soil. By the end the only recognisable parts are the plastic filters. Fungi, bacteria and other soil microorganisms doing their thing!

The amount of #plastic tat being pushed at events attracting a crowd is abhorrent in its wastefulness. Think of the resources going into making, shipping this junk, and for what? To be played with for five minutes before being thrown away. Even worse those that have electronics in them. There's absolutely no need.
It puts a downer on events like #Nuneaton's #ChristmasLights switch-on this evening. The Council should prohibit it. But it won't. #NBBCouncil
