Romance in Classic Doctor Who is never handled well (barring maybe the next story). This is done with all of the subtly of Dalek Invasion of Earth, at least Jo doesn't stay this time. #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

"You've done a lot for me, Doctor. Thank you" I like that Codal thanks the Doctor essentially for the chat they had in episode 2 rather than defeating the Daleks. It is a warm, genuine, personal touch. Codal is my favourite of the supporting cast #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

As much as it is very obvious how this model shot is done I don't think it detracts from the story. In fact I really like this whole sequence. Despite everything that should work against it, it is surprisingly effective #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

With the arrival of the Dalek Supreme there is an interesting new element added to the story. Not only does a more Cushing era Dalek look cool on screen we also get to learn more about the Supreme Council and Dalek hierarchy #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

This is a really effective scene. Not only do they allow Wester to be the real hero of the story, but in death they give him his own identity. The scene even makes me feel sorry for Daleks which is quite an achievement #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

The show is filming in yet another quarry. Bet they never imagined that one day they would have Disney money and be able to make their own full on authentic replica quarries... #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

The Daleks may be at their most brutal here. There is very little chanting just shooting people down. This is a quick scene but demonstrates the point. In order to kill the escaping Thal prisoner they murder their own servant and not a word is said #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

This is all very traditional Dalek stuff. I can see why people draw paralells to Terry Nations 60's Dalek stuff. Here the neutronic bomb is replaced by a container of bacteria, but they plan they have is essentially the same as that of the OG story #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

It is an unusual move to have the Doctor so scared that he lashes out and resorts to violence first (unless you are an Ogron). Jo has to restrain him from beating Wester with a stick which leads to a rather uncomfortable conversation #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

Like the Icecano, the idea of these rocks that absorb heat during the day and expel it during the night works well. You can't say Terry Nation doesn't include interesting features on the planets he creates #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

Should our heroes be more scared of the timid but invisible Spiradons or the obviously huge purple monsters they skin for their fur? #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

"Your being here might be the very reason the Daleks win" I really do get what they were going for here and I'm not saying the point is invalid but it is handled so clunkily that I just found this scene uncomfortable to watch #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

"Doctor, wait till you hear what happened to me. It was terrible, and then I got rescued by this bowl" That is my favourite line of the story. While I love the new confident Jo its nice to remember she is still the same excitable person as well #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

Dare I say that this feels like the first proper Dalek story since Power. I loved Evil but it had its own distinct feel. This feels like a proper traditional Dalek tale #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

Now this is how you end an episode. The idea of an army of thousands of Daleks in suspended animation set to invade the whole Galaxy ties nicely into their manipulation in Frontier #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

There isn't much to say about this episode, it is a lot of crawling through cooling shafts, going up and down in lifts and hiding behind counters #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

It shows how little the Daleks think of the Thals that they didn't even bother to take Codal's gun or knife #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

Terry Nation has given us petrified forests, seas of acid and walking plants but I think that molten ice volcano's might be my favourite yet #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

We learn that the Spiridon's wear the purple furs when it is cold but does this mean that they are naked the rest of the time? Do we ever learn if they can see each other? #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

This isn't the first time that the Doctor has believed Jo to have been killed but it is definitely the most emotional he has been. There is a moment of genuine anguish as he looks back at the burning ship #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks

After the very ropey voices in #FrontierinSpace the Daleks are back on form here. I actually like this version #DoctorWho #PlanetoftheDaleks
