A small FOSS web-app, that takes your Deutsche Bahn tickets, and converts them to a pkpass file - to be imported into FOSS wallets. Glorious, no more weird scrolling in the PDFs on the phone!

I´ll report back later if i was arrested on the train, or it works 😉 .

Provoking statement: what are the key advantages of #PKPASS in comparison to a simple PNG with the QR Code?

I don't have experience with PKPASS and I think that a simple PNG can deal with almost all practical properties of PKPASS files like, e.g., that my Android can't deal with it without installing additional apps like #PassAndroid.

A #GNOME / #LinuxMobile app like https://flathub.org/en/apps/me.sanchezrodriguez.passes handling your event tickets & transport boarding passes using the .pkpass format is pretty cool, but I've never actually encountered electronic passes like that, only paper.

I think it would be very cool if the "Passes" app could scan boarding pass barcodes and QR codes from your webcam or a PDF/image file, so I filed a feature request with the prior art I found: https://github.com/pablo-s/passes/issues/88

o que pasa é que antes, hai tempo, non era compatible con algún .pkpass que tiña e instalei #FossWallet e quedou aí, que tampouco estorba nin lle conta a túa vida a gugle. Non coma outras!.

Podes engadir billetes de transporte, o carné da biblioteca, a tarxeta do súper, etc. e agrupala e porlles colorinchis etc :sorrisosloth:

After some failed attempts with #Transdev, I got an e-ticket to try their new busses (and visit @BlackMinaFZ8 !)
The e-ticket is a PDF with an #Aztec code in it. That decodes to an odd string of unreadable characters that I can't even replicate in an Aztec generator.
I've seen a talk before about European public transport e-tickets, but couldn't find info on aztec codes.
The nerd in me really wants to convert it to a #pkpass file, but allas.

For those it may interest: let it be known that we also have a #GNOME application (called "Passes") for handling #PKPass or #esPass tickets, for #LinuxMobile travelers and partygoers in abandoned warehouses kitted up for a rave.

was ist die simpelste Methode, um den Inhalt einer #pkpass-Datei / #Passbook in #Linux menschenlesbar darzustellen? Grafische Programme oder Kommandozeile/Bash sind OK für mich.

Meine Internetsuche nach Standard-Software für #Ubuntu oder Kommandozeile zum Lesen von pkpass-Dateien war nicht sehr erfolgreich.

Die PKPass-Datei habe ich in der App #fWallet gespeichert, die es bei @fdroidorg gibt. Mit KDE Itinerary müsste das auch funktionieren.

Perfekt ist auch dieses Angebot nicht – ich vermisse die Möglichkeit, per #SEPA-Bankeinzug zu zahlen. Wie schon andere schrieben, gilt ein D-Ticket immer nur bis zum Ende eines Kalendermonats, aber dafür kann der VRS nichts.

Is anyone usimg #FWallet for #Android? I have .pkpass files which cannot be imported (i guess - no feedback) and i want to find out why.
Also i am not sure if #Termux can import via CLI since it is sandboxed?
Sometimes i wish i was fully on #LinuxMobile already.
Are there any other apps out there i could try? #FDroid preferred.

Es gibt digitale Börsen/ Mappen/ Brieftaschen, neudeutsch:
Walltes, vor allem für Smartphones.

Darin kann man die digitalen Versionen aller Art von #Karten speichern. z.B. Kreditkarten und z.B. auch das #Deutschlandticket.

Diese Walltes sind in der Regel im iPhone und Android Handys von den großen Herstellern integriert.

Aber nicht jeder möchte seine Karten diesen Walltets anvertrauen, sondern lieber eine #OpenSource #Wallet benutzen, d.h. eine, deren Programmcode öffentlich und damit transparent und unabhängig überprüfbar ist.

Die digitale Grundlage der Karten für solche Walltes sind nun diese #pkpass-Dateien.

Werden die #pkpass Dateien, z.B. für das Deutschlandticket, von den Anbietern zur Verfügung gestellt, kann der Nutzer selbst entscheiden, in welche Walltet er die Karten importieren möchte.

Soweit die Therorie. Die Experten mögen mich berichtigen oder ergänzen...

@kuketzblog Auch der Regensburger Verkehrsverbund #RVV bittet das #Deutschlandticket als #pkpass Datei an. Der Link zur Datei ist in der Mail beim Bild mit "Hinzufügen zu Apple Wallet" zu finden. (Zudem gibt ist auch noch ein PDF im Anhang der Mail, dass nur digital gültig ist.) Zur Bestellung wird zwar deren App primär empfohlen, aber per Webportal geht es auch. https://dticket.rvv.de/

Die APG Würzburg bietet das Deutschlandticket als pkpass-Datei. Diese kann dann einfach in PassAndroid importiert und vorgezeigt werden. Eine proprietäre App eines Verkehrsverbunds entfällt also. Womöglich eine Alternative für alle, die das Ticket bei der Harzer Schmalspurbahn erworben haben. 👇

Is anyone willing to share a #DeutschlandTicket issued by Deutsche Bahn with me for development purposes ?

I am currently trying to write an adapter converting them into auto updating portable #PkPass files importable into any wallet application rather than the proprietary DB Navigator only.

In case you are fine with sharing it, I'd (likely) need the Aztec code and/or subscription number, last name and birthday (those are the "credentials" used by DB APIs to access the ticket for updates.)

Released an update to #fWallet and the Dart #PkPass library : Now supporting PkPass WebServices e.g. for subscription updates, moreover you can now share/export PkPass files.

Bonus : There's (more or less) working CI for #aarch64 available, so you can easily try it on your Linux mobile phone !

@genofire Genau, im Moment pack ich halt die PDFs manuell in #PassAndroid rein; aber damit die in der Übersicht sinnvoll angezeigt werden, muss ich dann händisch Titel und Datum editieren :-(

Aber trotzdem eine gute Idee: gibts schon fertige Apps, die die gängigen Matrix-Codes der Bahngesellschaften dekodieren und daraus z.B. eine #pkpass-Datei erzeugen können? #BinaryEye kann hier zumindest diverse #Aztec-Codes lesen, aber dann fehlt noch ein Parser für den ASCII-Inhalt.

Stell ich mich nur so ungeschickt an, oder ist es tatsächlich schwierig, Tickets als #pkpass-Dateien zu bekommen? Ich hab jetzt bei zwei verschiedenen Ticket-Anbietern keinen Erfolg gehabt: ich bekomme ein PDF (OK, das ist schon mal sehr kompatibel), und ich könnte das Ticket in der App des Ticket-Anbieters anzeigen. Aber eine Passbook-Datei find ich nicht!

Gibts da gängige Tricks? Muss mein Browser sich als iPhone ausgeben, damit ein Apple-Wallet-Link angezeigt wird ;-) ?
