Yay… Well, sorta yay, finally got 2 new M2 cars to add to my collection, its been months since WalMart had anything I wanted, in fact their stock has been real low for a long time. Unfortunately I seem to have lost my database of my collection, so that's annoying, going to have to re-do that. That said, here's the collection

Admittedly kinda hard to see as its just so many of them, 32 if'n I'm mathing right.
From top to bottom, the first shelf and the left cars on the second shelf are all VW's, mostly vans or van-pickups. A pair of oddballs fill out that shelf, a 50's American cargo wagon and a 70's Bronco in patriotic paint. Below that are the American cab overs, whether Dodge A series or Ford econolines, so far 16 of those taking up just over two shleves. Finally at the end are the rest of the miscellany, a pair of 50's Ford conventional trucks, and the newest addition…

A 1970 C600 pickup. 100 was ½ ton, 200 ¾ ton, 300 1 ton, so… ? Not sure what the weight class were on these, but they were heavy duty trucks typically box trucks, flatbeds or other service vehicles, a pickup is very interesting to see, and I always love the styling on these.

To swap the pickups or take apart the new one to try to repair the old one?
If I swap, I'll tear up the pickguard and maybe replace pots and caps to accommodate the new pickup.
Otherwise, I'll rip one coil out of the cute new pickup and cram it into the old pickup?
This Japanese SG copy isn't valuable, but it is weird and rare.

electric cats, a simple question for you: I have an electric guitar with a 5 way switch (2 dual humbuckers, 1 single coil). The 5 way switch is wired such that positions 0, 2, and 4 are neck humbucker only, single coil only, bridge humbucker only.
I swapped them out recently and those positions work 'fine' (except I think I soldered the wrong pickups to the wrong position, but hey, it's symmetrical, who cares?).
Positions 1 and 3 are a combination of a single pickup from the humbucker (split) and the middle single coil, and these are much more compressed and lower volume than the other positions. I think I fucked up the soldering and suspected I did something like swap the hot and the ground wires for each humbucker.
My question: A, without pictures or more information, does that make sense/seem plausible? B, would this be an easy to answer question if I gave more info and some pictures? C., ... what would this phenomenon even be called so that I might be able to look it up more in depth to see where I went wrong? It's like they're almost perfectly out of phase, or something; the reduction in volume and compression reminds me of destructive addition.
I wasn't able to find exact wiring diagrams for the new pickups (some inexpensive licensed duncans that are apparently duncans in name only) but the Ibanez wiring diagrams are easy enough to find. Any help or insight anyone can give would be super appreciated! It's still quite playable, as I largely just avoid positions 1 and 3 right now.

3 hours to install was most of the cost.

New #pickups. First time with a 335. Took 3 hours between these two photos.
Stock Epiphone to Ibanez Super 58s from 'Bay that I think are Chinese ($40/set).
16.5k bridge is quieter than the 7.5k neck. Not sure why. Got them mostly even by raising one and lowering the other.

Trying to A/B new #pickups (Chinese Ibanez Super58's from 'Bay) with the stock Epiphone one, by clipping it to an instrument cable and swapping back and forth with a cable plugged into the guitar.
The new ones sound clearer and brighter, probably because they're direct-out vs the current ones still being wired to the tone circuit.
It's less of a difference than I was hoping for, at this point.
I'm still planning to put them in, maybe next weekend.
