The #kerfuffle this week about #GM's practice of collecting #drivers' behavioural #data and then providing it to #data #brokers (causing some to have their insurance costs raised) brings up one of my pet #peeves.
#Journalists, can you please stop writing "<company> shares data with <data broker>"? They're not "#sharing" anything - they're #selling it.
"GM is selling drivers' behavioural data to LexisNexus" is a much more accurate statement. Why are you doing companies' PR for them?

How do people not understand that if they tell you your appointment is at 9:00 but you have to be there a half hour before that what they are saying is your appointment is at 8:30. #peeves

The redundant nature of "the reason why" isn't one of my peeves; it makes as much sense to me as "that time when," which I'm also okay with.
But "the reason as to why..." can nope right outta here.
