  1. … “The goal is to use content to build bridges between users who are currently stuck in echo chambers.

Facebook and X have already experimented with #bridging approaches, but not yet in the main feed. The collaboration between #SPRIND, #Eurosky, and researchers at #TUDresden is therefore expected to be the first project worldwide to integrate a bridging algorithm into the main feed of a social media platform.”

  3. @yggverse

I'm still wrestling a bit with your .deb package on Debian 14 (Forky), not a clean install without complaints but #Gossip itself runs flawlessly regardless, and it's blindingly faster than any other desktop client I've tested so far.

A #Debian style repo maintained by the Gossip team itself would really be nice too instead of manually checking for a newly dropped .deb file.

It's pretty enough for me right now, and quite complete, except that #wallet is noticable in it's absence - is that on the roadmap? Amethyst desktop is all in on Tor by default out of the box. Your plans there? Honestly though Gossip looks waaaay better on desktop than #Amethyst, and I had to settle on using an #AppImage for that

Alex has added #Monero (XMR) support in #Ditto in the past few days too. I haven't started testing that yet but will do so shortly - BTW, Monero support in Mitra enjoys native integration 👋🤠

tl;dr: After only recently discovering Gossip last week I'm thoroughly elated. There's no law that says #nostr clients have to be married to #BTC or #Lightning.

Perhaps next on the horizon for many nostr clients is a #bridging feature similar to capabilities pioneered by #Mostr effectively removing perceived demarcations with the #Fediverse?

  11. If you are bridging your Fediverse account with fed.brid.gy/ to bluesky, you can also make a custom username for the bridged bluesky handle, if you have a domain.
This is my bridged Pixelfed account:

I still have to do this for my Mastodon account...

  15. Naive question since I still haven't manage to secure enough time to wrap my head about how #BlueSky is working: is it possible to bridge with #BlackSky without sending data to Bluesky directly?

    Maybe @anewsocial would know?

I'd imagine that such a post could then be shared and end up on Bluesky relays eventually but I just want to know if it's possible to have the data initially sent to a BlackSky relay only.

When we use the terms #bridging, or reducing division, we are thus not referring to “making everyone believe the same things.” Those terms are instead shorthand for enabling mutual understanding and respect across divides—in other words, supporting pluralism." 2/x

  25. "Overcoming the “bias toward division”, #bridging is not about eliminating conflict or creating homogeneity. The goal is to check the default tendencies of many environments (including much of social media), which can potentially push us toward extremes when combined with our psychological predilections. [..] The intent is “conflict transformation”: not to remove divisions or interfere with the substance of civic debates, but to “make conflict better in some way.” 1/x

  32. "#BridgyFed is a clever bit of connective tech that allows people on Bluesky to read posts on Mastodon and the rest of the fediverse, and vice-versa.
I have come around to being pretty positive on #bridging for people whose risk-benefit calculations make it good for them, but I am also extremely interested in helping people who hate the idea of bridging avoid being inadvertently sucked into a #crossnetwork vortex they don’t want."

  34. I've just been followed by an account that crossposts across Mastodon, Bluesky and Telegram.
+ It's not an open source project AFAICT
+ Claims Telegram is secure. That's false
+ Claims Bluesky is decentralized. That's false
+ It lets you do one to many post multiplying

I'm going to give the author the benefit of the doubt re their motivation but this project isn't giving me a warm fuzzy
