  1. Hey #pdxfedi, There are a few neat things happening around town that I've been meaning to get out to see but need a little boost to get to. Any interest in an outing?

    - Mark Rothko exhibit at Portland Art Museum
    - chatterpdx.org (classical music) on Sunday mornings
    - "Checkmates and Chill" FREE jazz in Director's park on Sunday afternoons

  2. @ansate @pdxfedi I think John's Marketplace is preferable to The Heist for an outdoor group gathering.

The Heist's large tables are jammed up in the area where the trailers are. (Unless, by luck, the back patio is unoccupied.)

John's Marketplace has a couple of outdoor seating areas, more spread out and comfortable.

  3. @pdxfedi OK! We are almost certainly meeting Tuesday Sept 22! 6-8?? 5:30-7:30?? Where shall we meet? Some great SE cart pods include: Hawthorne Asylum, John’s Marketplace, and the Heist. Tell me about other options! There’s gotta be something in inner N/NE? Anything west that won’t be too hard to reach at that time?

  4. @pdxfedi y'all are killing me with these TIES.

of the 3 ahead by a hair, Tuesday Sept 22 I don't think anyone has told me a specific reason why it doesn't work. Leaning strongly toward that option, but please speak up if you have a reason that isn't good (esp if it's one that might impact many people)

are you wondering what I'm even talking about? We have a webpage about our meetups now! pdxfedi.jampdx.net

  5. @ansate @pdxfedi So basically, ±1 vote, it's a four-way tie. 😅

I support Ansate being the tie breaker.

  6. The #pdxFedi meetup now has a home page!

    pdxfedi.jampdx.net

I created this yesterday, for the #htmlDay celebration. Thanks @clipdx for the event. ❤️

  7. RE: pdx.social/@clipdx/11704897554

Had a great time at HTML Day! V chill, but nice to see people and work on things a little!

I added some summary statistics to my moderation log script for Mastodon, and I tried to get pagefind.app working for my blog. Which sent me deep into "how do I even edit a Jekyll theme??" I didn't succeed yet, but I should save off these open tabs...

More importantly, loved getting to hang out with folks! See you next year, and at Web Day between now and then. (pst, if you can see this, you're welcome at #pdxFedi meetups!)

  8. If anyone in #pdxFedi is having a garage sale and accepting items (or if I can help organize one) please let me know, because I have a bunch of items (cleaned, sanitized, etc. obviously) but no garage 😅 I will donate the proceeds to the operation of this server!

  9. HELLO #pdxFedi friends!!! it is time to plan our next #pdx area get together! My September weekends turn out to be limited (double repair cafe month! repairpdx.org/repair-events ) but I definitely heard from folks that weeknight options might be appealing.

Here's a poll for What Day Should We Meet. Choose all that work for you. Probably a park if the weekend, a food cart pod if a weeknight. As usual, I want to hear your opinions if they are more nuanced than a poll allows 😀

    /cc @pdxfedi

  10. @jpot Welcome. If you are interested in meeting the local Mastodon peoples face-to-face, follow the #pdxFedi hashtag. We organize meetups there.

  11. @sri @ansate @pdxfedi Sorry, it was Sunday. The pdxFedi meetup is an informal gathering of local Masto (and adjacent) folks. We meet every couple months or so. Follow the #pdxFedi hashtag for updates and planning. Check out notifybot.jampdx.net to avoid missing it.

  12. seen immediately after yesterday's #pdxfedi meetup, special delivery to @ieure

  13. @pdxfedi Another successful #pdxFedi meetup!!! It was so lovely to see people. Let’s do it again in September?? Start sending me ideas for exactly when and where!

  14. Hey pdxFedi meetup people -- hope your can join us 2-4pm @ Willamette Park. The parking sitch actually looks good. It's pleasant with a light breeze here.

I grabbed a table by the parking lot. See map.

UPDATE: Auto parking is gone. It's trailer parking only. Remember .. free parking and easy 10 minute bus ride from Tacoma/Johnson Creek park and ride.

  15. RE: pdx.social/@courtney/116893767

Hey #pdxFedi, @pdxfedi hope to see you tomorrow! (social.coop/@ansate/1168756182)
(meetup Sunday, July 12 from 2p-4p at Willamette Park)

just wanted to boost this awesome parking tip from @courtney

    - if you're worried about parking, consider parking at the Tacoma/Johnson Creek park-and-ride (free!) and take the #40 bus right to the park.

  16. Hi hi #pdxFedi our next meetup is this coming Sunday, July 12! from 2p-4p at Willamette Park. portland.gov/parks/willamette-

we will try to get a picnic table spot, but there's no good way to be sure, so feel free to bring camp chairs!

I'll post in this thread when we find somewhere we can claim that afternoon.

We'll have nametags. I think i'm bringing cans of seltzer again.

is there anything else you need to know? reply and I'll do my best!

note that I am pretty sure the parking at both lots is paid: portland.gov/parks/parking-gui

    @pdxfedi #pdx #portland

  17. #PDXfedi, is there a #maker space that could use a gently used first generation Creality Ender 5 filament printer and Klipper/Mainsail Raspberry Pi that now drives it? I have a newer one and no more room. It was plugging up at the heat break but I have repaired that. EDIT: Feel free to boost for reach #Portland #PDX #3Dprinting

  18. The next PDX Fediverse meetup will be Sunday July 12, from 2p-4p at Willamette Park. portland.gov/parks/willamette-
    portland.gov/parks/documents/w

On the map, I see two parking lots, and I think they are both $1/hr for parking: portland.gov/parks/parking-gui

The park is near two bus lines that run through downtown, the 35 trimet.org/schedules/r035.htm and the 40 trimet.org/schedules/r040.htm

My current "plan" is that we will attempt to find a picnic table between the larger parking lot and the playground area. Please let me know if this is a bad plan! We have time to make a better one. I have not actually been to this park yet.

  19. A TIE!??!??!

For the Sunday July 12, 2p-4p PDX meetup we _still_ need a venue.

I honestly can't decide. They both have a lot of strengths. Let's do a runoff.

Things that have swayed me to Washington Park:
    - Max stop/lots of transit
    - has calendar of events, and doesn't seem heavy that afternoon

    vs Willamette Park:
    - some folks can bike to it
    - on the river!
    - haven't been there yet
    - parking can be really really bad at Washington Park

ok, this time you can only choose one! if you make it a tie again, I will flip a coin or something.

    #pdx #pdxFedi #boostsWelcome @pdxfedi

  20. For the Sunday July 12, 2p-4p PDX meetup we need a venue:

Here's a poll for location, note ALL the options are on the west side. Please checkbox all that would work well for you.

    #pdx #pdxFedi @pdxfedi

  21. I propose the afternoon of Sunday July 12 for our next PDX Fedi meetup! Summer is busy, but hopefully that works for many people!

Now we need to decide WHERE to meet. Strong preference for a park again.

I would love to go to the west side if we can find somewhere that is easy to get to on transit?
Laurelhurst worked well last year, even though parking is miserable.

I think my instance only does 4 item poll, so help me come up with some options pls and then we'll vote it out

  22. #pdxFedi @pdxfedi we are here!! join us near the gazebo, look for the sign
