We listened to all the episodes of wildly entertaining podcast Grimm, Grimmer, Grimmest. Today, we're off to see musical Into The Woods, performed by Community Players of New Hamburg. Love it when learning opportunities dovetail so nicely! #PandemicHomeschool

Listening in on kiddo's online Canada & The World class. They are playing a trade game and setting up trade alliances to get what they need. Right off the bat, the kids have already told the US that they aren't trading with them. π€£ #PandemicHomeschool

This is how we watch the #OpeningCeremony for #Olympics2026 β with a globe to find each country as it comes up, and a running commentary on the fashion choices for each team. #PandemicHomeschool

We're working on geometry in the dining room while listening to Glenn Gould's Goldberg Variations on the record player. It all feels very sophisticated π #PandemicHomeschool

Kiddo had such a great online Canada & the World lesson today about power β soft and hard, personal and national. Great to hear young people articulate what they see as their own assets and sources of power, and to hear them identify how people abuse power locally and globally. π¨π¦ #PandemicHomeschool

Kiddo came away from his first online Canada & the World class this afternoon with so many questions. So we got out the globe to help with perspective, and then we watched @[email protected] give a great speech about Canada & the World. So much to unpack together!!! #PandemicHomeschool

Back to hanging out in my cozy bright 'workspace' while kiddo attends his full-day arts program. I enjoy a comfy chair, free wifi, great air quality, and lots of natural light. I get all my lectures planned for the week, and have pizza lunch with kiddo. Love it! #PandemicHomeschool

We had a very special guest speaker in our #PandemicHomeschool today. Dr Gabor MatΓ© shared so many good insights and strategies for kids in his talk about resilience and authenticity in a toxic culture. Connection is key β€οΈ Thank you @[email protected]! www.youtube.com/live/3NAS_9h...

We experienced an excellent field trip today β WWI education program at Ruthven Park National Historic Site. I taught about WWI for a decade or so, but I still learned a lot of new things today from Andy Robertshaw. Fantastic! #PandemicHomeschool

Kiddo always says they did nothing at forest school.... and then breaks out a random lovely creation like this natural first aid kit that he sat down and stitched with very chilly hands in this morning's crisp autumn air. #PandemicHomeschool

Kiddo and his friends learned new skills today at a homeschool sewing workshop provided by Brantford Public Library. For most of them, it was their first time using a sewing machine, and an iron! They each sewed a fabric bookmark to slide onto the corner of their book's pages. #PandemicHomeschool

Quiet afternoon of observation and learning at Long Point today. Sometimes a day at the beach is just what we need, no matter the time of year. #PandemicHomeschool

Our field trip to Long Point Bird Observatory today was an absolute delight. We learned all about their banding/research program and helped release birds to continue their migration to Central and South America. Long Point was full of Monarchs today too. Big week for migration! #PandemicHomeschool

There's a crew at our house installing the new heat pump, so we are spending this beautiful sunny day in Stratford. We did a little math along the river, had lunch and silent reading on a patio β and we nabbed tickets for the Anne of Green Gables matinee. It's a good day! #PandemicHomeschool

We are parked on the side of a country lane with our Mike & Ikes and some Vinyl Cafe stories. We are waiting for darkness so we can see the light of the Perseids. We've got our amazing hoodies from the Perimeter Institute but it's too hot to wear them! #WeAreExplorers #PandemicHomeschool

Today, we attended the coolest event at Conestoga College β where they have sheep visiting to graze in the solar field. We met the sheep, learned about the history of processing wool, and heard all being a shepherd. It was a wonderful woolly Wednesday afternoon! #PandemicHomeschool

Kiddo made an interesting archeological find at #ForestSchool the other day. They had been studying ancient artifacts, like arrowheads, when he happened to find this rock with marks clearly carved into it. His fellow learners had many hypotheses about its purpose. #Archaeology #PandemicHomeschool
