Khalil Nadiri, un responsable du Parti de la liberté du Kurdistan (PAK), a déclaré mercredi que les forces du PAK s'étaient repositionnées près de la frontière iranienne, dans la province de Souleimaniye, après avoir été contactées par les États-Unis. Un responsable de Komala, s'exprimant sous couvert d'anonymat, a indiqué que leurs combattants pourraient pénétrer en Iran d'ici dix jours. Le PJAK, le PAK, Komala, le Parti démocratique du Kurdistan iranien (PDKI) et l'Organisation Khabat ont formé le CPFIK le 22 février.
Le président Donald Trump s'est entretenu dimanche soir avec Massoud Barzani et Bafel Talabani, respectivement chefs du Parti démocratique du Kurdistan (PDK) et de l'Union patriotique du Kurdistan (UPK) d'Irak, ont indiqué des responsables kurdes irakiens. Selon l'un de ces responsables, Trump a sollicité un soutien militaire pour ces groupes et l'ouverture de la frontière. Trump a également téléphoné mardi au président du PDKI, Mustafa Hijri, a déclaré un haut responsable kurde iranien.
Selon CNN , qui cite plusieurs sources, la CIA s'efforce d'armer les forces kurdes afin de déclencher un soulèvement en Iran. La porte-parole de la Maison Blanche, Karoline Leavitt, a confirmé les appels de Trump, mais a nié qu'il ait approuvé un quelconque plan d'armement. Le secrétaire à la Défense, Pete Hegseth, a déclaré que les objectifs américains ne reposent pas sur le soutien ou l'armement d'une force particulière.
La réaction irakienne
Le conseiller à la sécurité nationale irakien, Qassim al-Araji, a déclaré sur la chaîne X que Bagdad avait déployé des renforts à la frontière après que Téhéran ait demandé des mesures pour bloquer les points de passage de l'opposition. Le Corps des gardiens de la révolution islamique (CGRI) a confirmé avoir mené des frappes contre des positions de l'opposition kurde dans la région du Kurdistan irakien. Ces affirmations n'ont pas été vérifiées de manière indépendante. Les responsables kurdes et l'Iran ont donné des versions contradictoires des opérations terrestres signalées.
