  5. Tomb inside St Michael & All Angels, Hawkshead. Apparently the tomb is of the parents of Edwin Sandys, from the village, who became Archbishop of York; it is dated 1578.

  7. @tomnorthfilm Thanks Tom. That's #FilmFerrania #P33, a new 160-ISO emulsion. I think it's a wonderful film.

The odd thing about this image is that I printed it to use as a #PostCardsFromAfar , and it was just... nothing! Clearly my printing needs some work!

  10. I devved my second roll of #Ferrania #P33 at the weekend and scanned it last night. Nominal 7 minutes in HC-110 dilution B (1+31) seems to have worked very well. Time reduced by 15% because of the rotary Rondinax. Used very small, gentle movements. I think I have a problem with my Plustek 7500i, but nevertheless I'm very happy with this time.

  11. .@AlexLuyckxPhoto Here's a frame from #P33 devved in HC-110 B for nominal 7:30, and its negative over an envelope.

There is detail in the sky but not the wall to the right. Text cannot be read through the (dark) highlight section of the negative. From marcmarc's advice (see photrio.com/forum/threads/how-), this seems more like over-development than under.

I have another roll waiting dev, so any comments welcomed! 2/2

  12. .@AlexLuyckxPhoto More on #FilmFerrania #P33 development in HC-110. Alex suggested 9 mins. I'd used 7 mins 30. How to assess my dev time? This from marcmarc on Photrio: "...for highlights, a very unscientific way to check [...] was lay negative on a white page with black printed lettering. You should be just barely able to make out the words in the dense parts of the negative. If you cannot, the neg is over developed; likewise if you can easily seen the words your neg is under developed." 1/2

  13. The post I was referring to from @AlexLuyckxPhoto was at mstdn.ca/@AlexLuyckxPhoto/1127 in reply to an off-thread request, sorry about that. He's suggesting a time of 9 minutes in HC-110 dilution B for my Ferrania #P33.

  14. @AlexLuyckxPhoto My #P33 in HC-110 B for nominal 7:30 is definitely looking under-developed to me, despite some giving a nice range of tones in the scan. I'll certainly try the 9 minutes you suggest next time (though if I'm feeling up to all that twiddling I might try 14 minutes in dilution E). Thanks for the suggestion.

  15. Today I developed my #Ferrania #P33 film in Kodak HC-110 dilution B (1+31) for nominal 7 minutes 30 seconds (reduced to 6 minutes 22 seconds because of near continuous rotation in my Rondinax. I make a small partial rotation every second throughout development time).

    And we have images!

EDIT: Now that I have scanned these,. I believe they are under-developed and the time is too short. See @AlexLuyckxPhoto post in this thread for suggestion to use SFX200 times.

  16. So in the end I posted off 6 films to Filmdev (2xC41 for dev and scan, and 4xBW for dev-only) but not including the #P33 .

Looking at Ferrania's recommended dev times for D-76 stock, it's 6 minutes for #P30 & 10 minutes for P33. Few other comparable times, but MDC has Rodinal 1+25 at 8 minutes for P30, while #Ferrania has it at 8.5/10 (whatever that means) for P33.

Given my time for P30 in HC-110 B is 5 minutes, I think I'll do the first roll at somewhere from 7-8 minutes and see. All at 20C.

  17. Bought some new #FerraniaFilm to try out. There aren’t that many photos taken with this film on here or Flickr, so I’m not quite sure what to expect. Now I just need to go somewhere interesting… 🥲
