#p2025 — Public Fediverse posts

#p2025 plans point toward criminalization of trans people and their supporters. I find this paragraph from the preamble particularly concerning:

"Pornography, manifested today in the omnipresent propagation of transgender ideology and sexualization of children, for instance, is not a political Gordian knot inextricably binding up disparate claims about free speech, property rights, sexual liberation, and child welfare. It has no claim to First Amendment protection. Its purveyors are child predators and misogynistic exploiters of women. Their product is as addictive as any illicit drug and as psychologically destructive as any crime. Pornography should be outlawed. The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned. Educators and public librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders. And telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered."

People should not underestimate the serious danger of what is happening now in the US. Even though it can seem bumbling, they are playing for keeps!

I am finding these 3 lenses to be helpful in understanding what we see happening with the current #fascist US administration.

1. Seizing autocratic control of the US and fighting liberal democracy worldwide. I find this to be the most consistent and practical lens for explaining all we see, both domestically and internationally. Understand this as the goal, not a means to some other policy purpose. Within the government now, there is a bewildering hodgepodge of policy change and harassment. I understand the purpose of all this as to break the institutions which can resist autocratic control and to acclimate stakeholders toward autocratic function. This lens predicts a shift toward expanded efforts at autocratic control in broader society after consolidation of control over the government.

2. Project 2025: Much of what we see is closely following the plan in #P2025. Here is a progress tracker showing approx 1/3 progress now. https://www.project2025.observer/
Many on the social right will see #autocracy as the means to a social end, and p2025 is written that way. Eventually I guess they will be disappointed. The plan aims at broader society after seizing the government, getting to the point where lot of people including #trans advocates are to be criminalized/jailed. (See comment)

3. Dark Enlightenment? Aka neoreactionism / #NRx. I really don't know whether to take this seriously, but there are at least hints of association between this internet-native philospohy and some of the tech-world people connected with this administration. Autocracy/monarchy and/or some kind of cyberpunk-like political world are direct objectives. In this direction, there is a rabbit hole of pro-dystopianism, so tread carefully.
