  11. This week was super busy, but it started out really nice with attending #BSidesMunich together with a bunch of my colleagues. Fully enjoyed my time there, seeing folks from last editions and also #osco25 again, learning together. Many thanks to the organizers for giving us this space! Finally, here are the #sketchnotes I took during the #BSidesMunich2025 conference day. Thread. 🧵

  35. One thing I had a look at #osco25 were card games in #cybersecurity. Lucky for me "Cumulus" was offered as merch. Had to order some more, though.

Can't wait to play those games at work and educate myself and colleagues about #threatModelling.

Not sure if I should hope for finding blind spots. That might lead to bad sleep ;)

  40. The Open Security Conference 2025 is over. It was a blast. It was great co-organising it and to receive so much positive feedback.

One feedback especially stuck with me (paraphrasing):
"I wouldn't have come if you hadn't specifically invited me. I was very sceptical. How can a conference without a schedule work? Who will speak there? What topics will there be discussed?
This scepticism is gone and I'm convinced. I'll definitely will be back next year!"

Some participant AFAIK made short videos about their experience (and their surprises)

The scepticism is totally understandable if you don't know or never experienced an Open Space event.

We don't have big names to advertise the @OSCo (there are only two keynotes with a name attached at all)
There is no list of topics which will be presented (participants will speak about the topics they are interested in. And the hip topics during the creation of the schedule might not be the hot topics during the event)

This sounds confusing if you only know traditional conferences. But what I can basically guarantee is that you will be surprised (in a positive way :-P).
If you know the expression Hallway Con and Open Space is maybe best described as #HallwayCon on steroids. It leaves out all the hindering scheduled presentations leaving the entire time available for dialogues arising by serendipity.

If you want to learn more about #OpenSpace and the Open Security Conference, checkout the #osco25 (or also #osco2025) hashtag to get an impression (here as well as on LinkedIn eg linkedin.com/search/results/co)

  50. Just a quick thought about open spaces:

OpenSpace conferences like #socrates and #osco feel like enabling conferences. They bring you into contact with like minded people, let you try yourself in various situations like presenting, taking part, asking questions. They also bring you into contact with seasoned speakers and facilitators. And all persons are willing to learn and teach.

  55. Back from an amazing long weekend at #osco25. We had two great keynotes . One by @m1r314 about AppSec and one by @bkastl about history repeating itself (in security).

There were great sessions over both days and nights of open space and I'm full of new ideas, hopes and a bit lack of sleep. And also a lot of new contacts.

Thank you again @OSCo ! It was an absolute pleasure to be there.

  60. Travelled home from #osco25. On the last meters on the bike I got into heavy rain.
Big shoutout to the organizers for an awesome unconference. CU all next year (at latest)
