Today we are going to play Potato Pirates 2 - Enter the Spudnet at work.
It's a fun board game with a little bit of cyber security mixed in.
It's a test run. I want to play that at the girls day this year. The girls (and boys) day is a special day in Germany, there kids are encouraged to experience jobs, that are biased towards certain gender. For example information technology or child care.
This is the third year my employer participates and offers a broad experience of jobs in computer science. PO, Scrum master, cyber security, developer.
So far we got very positive feedback from the young people and I hope that we can reduce the gatekeeping in these jobs.If you are a little bit older and want to play that game or learn more about cyber security without previous experience, maybe the @OSCo is something for you.
It's an un-conference in the open space format focused on cyber security. I'm one of the organizers and our goal is to reduce gatekeeping and to create a safe space for everyone, regardless of experience, age, gender, religion, skin colour or disability.
The open security conference 2026 is scheduled for 5-8 November 2026 in the SeminarZentrum Rückersbach (Germany):

The year 2025 is slowly coming to an end.

Just a quick thought about open spaces:
OpenSpace conferences like #socrates and #osco feel like enabling conferences. They bring you into contact with like minded people, let you try yourself in various situations like presenting, taking part, asking questions. They also bring you into contact with seasoned speakers and facilitators. And all persons are willing to learn and teach.

Back from an amazing long weekend at #osco25. We had two great keynotes . One by @m1r314 about AppSec and one by @bkastl about history repeating itself (in security).
There were great sessions over both days and nights of open space and I'm full of new ideas, hopes and a bit lack of sleep. And also a lot of new contacts.
Thank you again @OSCo ! It was an absolute pleasure to be there.

Last lunch conversation was had, last train ride was shared. Now #osco25 is slowly starting to fade out and form fond memories. What a wonderful time we had together the last four days. Huge thanks to everyone for coming and contributing and sharing so much invaluable feedback - this gives more energy than you might realize. Wow. Even the last morning of #osco25 was enlightening. 💡 Started with insightful breakfast conversations on company cultures and reward systems driving behavior. Continued with me giving a super relaxed version of my workshop "Secure Development Lifecycle Applied - How to Make Things a Bit More Secure than Yesterday Every Day". Seems folks had fun practicing together and I gained a feeling for this workshop again. 🎉 #osco gave just the right space and crowd for it.

On my way back home after an amazing (prolonged) weekend at @OSCo.
It was wonderful connecting with new faces, deepening existing relationships, and gaining valuable insights through exchange and discussion.

Had great company at dinner and hence respective conversations. Of course, in the evening I gave another session of "Capture the flag Together" going on exploration into a system, and again many folks were eager to find these hidden secrets. Finally, finished the day with playing games and having great conversations. 💜 Very grateful for such a kind human crowd.
