New blog post about increasing donors to the projects daily API rate limit.
Big thanks to @opencollective for the infrastructure to allow us to provide this.

Thank you for the likes 👍🏾 Until my VRS figures out how to get me certified as "disabled" my TPS from SSA wasn't good enough, I can get the #opencollective setup Maybe @[email protected] can help by providing a better solution? Here's an example created by #blacksky #oneminnesota #a11y

We have now created a hopefully easy way to support our hackspace, especially the hand soldering competition we offer every year at the Chaos Computer Congress, via Open Collective.

One thing I have never been a fan of is sponsoring software projects using GitHub Sponsors page. And there are lots of individual developers that rely on it.
I have been using OpenCollective to support software projects. I wonder if there will be more developers open to using alternative platforms away from GitHub to support their work

Some of you asked me to open a #OpenCollective account for donations.
Unfortunately, #Sengi doesn't meet their Open Source Collective's eligibility requirements (the source code isn't hosted under an organizational repository currently). So it's not possible for now. 😕

@cas meaning #opencollective wrote on this matter: https://opencollective.com/opensource/updates/on-kyc-checks-and-persona

@postmarketOS Do you have any plans to enable any donation methods beside #opencollective which is currently preparing collaborating with #persona #KYC? It would be nice to be able to send money directly to an #IBAN account or via some not-us-based #crowdfunding platform like #steady.

Ok, so it seems OpenCollective is joining the dark side by their decision to work with Persona.
It seems one can only donate to CoMaps using OpenCollective or Liberapay, but using Liberapay still puts money in their OpenCollective bank account.
*sigh* 😫

@z428eu @kalivene How could a ragtag team of part time volunteer contributors from 6 continents submit to the legal undertaking of becoming a financial enterprise?
There's #Liberapay, #OpenCollective, #ko-fi, #BuyMeACoffee, #Patreon, #Github Sponsors, #SEPA etc and crypto coins. If your favorite app developer does not yet support the one you like... feel free to ask them.
/PS: Keep an eye on #Taler and subscribe to our news via #RSS 😉

@opencollective @benjam @shannonwray
I'm not really sure that this presentation actually clarified anything in terms of #Xfce and its financial relationship to #opencollective
Unfortunately, I think that may be causing more confusion. The presention seemed very convoluted.
In my personal opinion, I think that it is a net positive that we, #Xfce, are actually starting to spend the donations that we have received from our generous supporters on paying our core developers to improve the project.

If you would like to help financially support the development of a new Wayland compositor for Xfce, you can do so by contributing funds via our #OpenCollective accounts.
For US contributions:
https://opencollective.com/xfceFor EU contributions:
https://opencollective.com/xfce-euThese contributions will help pay for the funding of longtime Xfce core developer Brian Tarricone to create xfwl4, a brand-new Wayland compositor for Xfce.
Thank you for your support!

Big shout out to L'Air du Bois for making and still maintaining the OpenCutList plugin for Sketchup. Sooooo handy. Use it for almost all my projects.

This was a lot of work, so I'm putting it out there in case someone else finds it useful:
new docs describing #OpenCollective's #csv, and #hledger rules for converting it.

I enabled the new version of the budget section on OpenCollective for @conjured_ink and I really dig this. It's really nice to do our finances out in the open, and I'm really proud that even with our limited finances, our priority has been to fund creatives first.
https://opencollective.com/conjured-ink
Y'all's donations are letting us compensate folks for some of their work, especially folks in need who do work that's not typically done as volunteer work (like open source work. Cause let's be real, FOSS people love giving away our labor).
Our goal is to have employees! With benefits! Being fiscally sponsored by Open Source Collective means we can do things like health insurance for folks paid 30hr+ (full time).
Please boost and share. We'll continue operating with open books so you can see where the money's flowing.
Some of you may know that I had a less-successful attempt at a platform some years back with Banchan Art (think VGen, if it were a co-op owned by the artists themselves), and one of the Big Lessons is that you kinda need money to make money to make the company stay afloat and on-mission. Hence :)

We’re thrilled that 179 amazing people have donated to support CoMaps! This is helping bring this project to life.
As a community-driven project we use systems about communities and openness - Open Collective and LiberaPay.
As donations grow, we’ll be able to hire engineers and accelerate the development of new features.
Together, we can make CoMaps a powerful tool for everyone.
