  1. My favorite meals to cook are dishes you will never find at a restaurant. This is chopped chicken thighs with oyster sauce and frozen peas and carrots. Accompanied by an experimental white rice / bulgur wheat blend.

    Skin-on thighs is key. I’ve made it without and it almost tastes dry.

    The chicken chopping prep is quite a bit of work, but the cooking is all in one pan and is super easy to toss together.

    One of my favorites growing up. I always go for seconds.

  2. You’re craving pasta but you don’t deserve it.

    Wilt half a head of cabbage sliced thin with some buttered shallots and mix your choice of cooked pasta in. This one’s casarecce.

    Toss in miso pasta water mix. A hearty but still balanced meal for 500 calories and a few dollars.

  3. Accidentally made an INCREDIBLE taco salad.

    All the basics — ground beef (85/15, I like fat), green leaf shrettuce, cilantro lime rice, pico, avocados, shredded Mexican cheese, and a cilantro lime dressing that really killed it.

    It was so good I forgot to add heat 😂

  4. 年糕 (Nian Gao) is a traditional glutinous rice snack eaten around Chinese New Year.

    A mix of glutinous rice flour, sugar, and starch is steamed for about an hour. We also added Pandan and coconut milk to this one for fun.

    The result is something like a hard mochi. It’s usually served pan fried so you get a crispy outside with a slightly chewy, gooey inside.
